A large wooden box is left on Roaringshore's main place by one shady merchant who departs shortly after. A large poster indicates that this is the property of Kalma Hellstorm, loud animal noises hail from the closed box.

Eventually, without anyone actually opening the noisy box no less than four wild badgers manage to break through, enraged they scatter through Roaringshore. Keen eyes will remark that each of those badgers have a message painted on their furs, in a deep plue paint.

For the ones daring enough to catch the badgers it reads : "For Kalma the badger catcher !"

One of the badgers was seen chasing a short, dark figure along the docks. There were a lot of yelling from the figure, and laughter from those who saw them run by.

Growing annoyed with the constant disruption of her home, one of the residents can be heard muttering. "Wild animals have no damn place on the docks! If I find one of those things, it's getting stuck and tossed over the dock."

From shore, there was a few hours where the Seawolf appeared to be flying miniature sails.

First Mate Grim of the infamous vessel the Sea Wolf has been seen at the docks and the taverns of roaring shore claiming to seek able hands and another crew for a business arrangement. A secretive female follows him around.

Are the Hellstorm about to descend on the seas anew?

A dark clad figure would shift on her stool slightly as he came into the tavern.. As the man spoke she would listen silently, considering carefully ....Turning toward the counter, she withdrew a piece of scrap paper and coal pencil... Scribbling a note she would stand, timing her departure with his.. As they neared the door together she would hand him the slip, whispering something quietly to the man before continuing on her way wordlessly.

A tall figure cloaked in scarlet and dressed in what appeared to be a jet black silken doublet beneath was seen arriving with a wagon from Soubar and spending a significant gold at the local market for some kind of floating stone.

This tall figure, who seemed quite hesitant on letting his face show, appeared to be sporting a badly dyed moustache. It seemed a mix of blonde and black set against a pale face.

And so the crew gathered the mercenaries, over ten of them. Different races, different skillsets. All important to the task at hand. The Seawolf set sail quickly after the chaotic mercenaries were loaded on battle ready brigantine. The Throat Cutter captained by Dallas shortly followed the Hellstorm crew. Curious eyes and spying figures watched as the pair of pirate vessels sailed into the night.

And by notime at all both ship return, not in such shining shape of excellency, but still sailing free. Crews are missing souls and surely they are missed as soon as the remaining pirates are running out of silver which they seem to have tons to spend to lasses, drinks and sins!

Once the Hellstorm pirates have set their wobbly feet back onto the docks and up the hills of Roaringshore—tossing cheers, coins and wicked grins all around—the sound of sailors barking a lively sea shanty echoes throughout the area, from the narrowest alley to the longest pier. The song spreads like wildfire and soon enough there isn't a sailor that doesn't know the very catchy chorus!

For reference!

"Well I used to be a farmer an' ev'rithing was fine
with my little stretch of land 'long Ulgoth's line
but times got tough and though I tried,
the money wasn't there,

so the Lords cam an' took my land,
an' told me "fair is fair",
I looked for e'vry kind job the answer was a no
"hire ye now? We've just let twenty go!"

the Dukes promised me a measly little sum
but I have too much pride to end like another bum
then I told to myself "who gives a damn if all jobs are afore,
with Kalma the Pirate there is Booty Galore!"

And it's a heave
(ho!)
and hi
(ho!)
lads wave yer lasses goodbye,
Sailing down the watery plains,
stealin gold and gems an' even silver veins
and it's a ho!
(hi!)
and hi!
(ho!)
farmers and fist bar yer doors,
when ye see Kalma's Jolly Roger flapping o'er the Coast's shores!

Well ye think the local merchants'd know he's still at large,
but just the other day he found this merchant barge
he snuck up right behind it and attacked it nonetheless;
he rammed the ship and cut its captain down with his sharp cutlass!

Some boardin' action an' some fighting and there was of blood a river,
sailors cross in so much fear that their stomach are a-quiver!
'Cuz they know that Cap'n Kalma is hiding in the bay,
An' when there's booty to be plunder'd nuffin' will stand in his way!

And it's a heave
(ho!)
and hi
(ho!)
lads wave yer lasses goodbye,
Sailing down the watery plains,
stealin gold and gems an' even silver veins
and it's a ho!
(hi!)
and hi!
(ho!)
farmers and fist bar yer doors,
when ye see Kalma's Jolly Roger flapping o'er the Coast's shores!

Well the Fist chased good Kalma, he was always at his throat,
they followed him on the shoreline 'cuz they don't even own a boat,
but the Dukes were quite the cheapskates and they'd fired them all,
an' good Kalma relieved 'em of their plight and nail'd them to a wall!

A swinging sword, a skull and bones, and merry company,
he never pay the Dukes any income taxes and sings this melody,
sailing down the Sword Coast, the terror of the sea,
don't stand in Kalma's way or he'll squish ye like a flea

And it's a heave
(ho!)
and hi
(ho!)
lads wave yer lasses goodbye
Sailing down the watery plains,
stealin gold and gems an' even silver veins
and it's a ho!
(hi!)
and hi!
(ho!)
farmers and fist bar yer doors,
when ye see Kalma's Jolly Roger flapping o'er the Coast's shores!

----------------------------------------------------
Will take place at 1900 GMT on Saturday July 19th

"Below Deck" = Slang for the Broken Goblet Arena

// Some OOC info

These are more guidelines than rules(except for the spells and scrolls as the Arena has spell failure). Break them at your own peril.

-No spells or scrolls. Its a small basement, and wards were put in place to prevent magic from engulfing the room.

-Everyone is allowed the use of 3 potions per match, provided they do not heal HP in anyway. Haste, Aid, Barkskin are fine. Cure Moderate Wounds, Heal, Greater Restoration would not be.

-Up to 3 uses of HiPS. This is to encourage tactical use of the feat rather than just spamming it every 6 second.

Other fun stuff

-We're going to try and have 3 tiers of competitors, based on the "+" tiers the scry uses, and 3 different rewards. Hence, the three different buy-ins.

-Betting limit for each fight to start is 1000 gold. This may change over the course of the event, even before it starts. The goal of the limit is to prevent the absurd 1,000,000 gold bet that we are aware a few characters might be able to put down.

-Death happens in these events. Combatants can mutually agree if the loser dies as a result of the fight.

-The crowd decides whether the loser rides the chute. Dead characters always ride the chute. Characters that did not die may be allowed to return to the arena covered in what is ever at the bottom of the chute.
--------------------------------------

More info may be added. Any questions feel free to PM.

The unruly mercenary group called the Saints, can be seen at the Broken Goblet more and more frequent as the days go by. They often transport various pieces of equipments, barrels of beverage and what not. Their leader, Alistair the Red is overseeing the whole operation, often sitting at his old Captain's chair at the Broken Goblet, doing all kinds of paper-work and having talks with shady people who comes and goes.

The news quickly spreads that the Saints are revitalising the underground fighting scene, which has been dead ever since Alistair was Captain of the Seawolf, the renowned ship which is now back at the hands of Kalma Hellstorm. People are wondering how the Mad Captain of the Seawolf will react to his treacherous former second-in-command openly operating within Roaringshore. Will there be a showdown?

As the hour nears for today's fights, Desrah can be seen making several trips between her Inn room and the tavern.

The observant person at the docks of roaringshore would have seen a rare sight indeed on this eve of the goblet contest.
First a female body splashed into the chute exit then the rather more livid First mate Grim followed her into the shyte and flotsam.
When the female came to they began speaking in some foreign language before the pair took the shipboat out to the Sea Wolf.
