It's not.
You guys are trying to come up with theoretical problems with the new system, when in reality, it is more complex than that.
So now we're in a dungeon, a Group...and some flashy being runs past to get the Loot...but it's OK, cause the Chests are always full. No worrying if they are Invisible (and/or you see them cause of Perception). Nor, stealthing rogues.
Good. Because I always found it annoying, and basically OOC, when the only time I would get dungeon interaction was when people would basically try to find an IC way to say "are you done looting so I can?" or worse, "Get out, or I'll kill you, you are stealing my lootz!" I mean, yes, people here, have found ways to make it sound like it is in character, but usually, it isn't, it's just them mad you are already there, or mad you entered "their" dungeon.
1. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
2. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
3. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
4. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
6. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
7. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
8. make a level 1 character and level it to level 5-6
9. proceed to loot kobold ruins over and over and over again
10. ????
11. profit?
Lower level loot is weaker than upper level loot. The whole argument steve has put forth about dedicated looters is a purely theoretical exploit that will fail in the game environment. I'd ENCOURAGE anybody to try it and prove me wrong.
Dedicated looters do better when they can swipe through the same dungeon twice.
Here is how you crazy loot:
lower level:
run through bandit cave, go to kobolds, get to gibberlings, run back to kobold ruins, restart entire dungeon, go back to bandit cave. If you are a little higher level, you can go to cloakwood mines. By the time you have finished the fourth level cloakwood mines, you can re-start the first, and loot run again.
That's roughly 48 chests.
Now you need to split it amongst two dedicated looters getting 24 each.
How is the 50% increase wrong? Say, for example, a single character loots 50 chests under the old system. He does this twice for a total of 100 chests opened. Now, under the new system, you can have three looters all get the same 50 chests for a total of 150 chests opened. That is a 50% increase in the number of chests opened. Plus, it will take a lot less time to do it now that there is no waiting for chests to respawn. I like the new system.
Or you could have had just two "dedicated looters" get 200 chests under the old system, instead of 3 getting 150 under the new.
Really, like I said, go 4 the exploits, dude. It wont happen or work any more efficiently than you imagined.
Plus, expect over time, as the new system gets more known to others, to be invited into parties as you try to loot run. You'll find it annoying, people will be insisting on talking to you and asking you to join, and not sending you OOC tells asking if you finished looting yet. This will slow down your mad loot runs with your dedicated looters.
