A hatted woman in fashionable garb had stumbled into the inn seemingly in a daze. She mumbled something about having seen something colossal out at sea, something so graceful that she couldn't put it to proper words. After a brief exchange with the proprietor of the Arms, she rented a room for the eve and quietly retired to her own thoughts.

The hatted woman makes her return to the inn, her previously splendid and immaculately cared for garb in a rather sorry state - stinking of seawater and covered in sand. She retreats to a rented room from which sounds of shrill shrieking and the occasional crash could be heard for several hours. When the room's inhabitant finally exited, she quietly paid for damages rendered towards furniture and left.

Trouble in the night

Late at night, the peace and tranquillity of the Friendly Arm Inn was disturbed. Apparently, a drunken dwarf got to the rooftop cafe, with a thunderous voice shouted, "Oim on top ov dae world!", puked several pints of recently consumed ale on the head of an unlucky guard going through his tedious night shift, and the two exchanged profanities for several minutes straight. An attempt to dislodge the Dwarven troublemaker from the rooftop cafe, however, was quite unsuccessful. After all, the night was still young. As he blocked the door with a bench, the dwarf got his battered lute out of his backpack. Shouting on top of his lungs and waking half of the Inn's guests sleeping soundly in their beds, the Dwarven skald proclaimed, "Tis fer ye, Brunhild, me luv!" and started singing a ballad. And nothing less than a love ballad it was, dedicated, as you dear reader could guess, to a certain Brunhild. Some of its lyrics hastily written down by a guest of the Inn who preferred to stay anonymous went as follows:

When I am at me bloody lowest, when I'm all out of ale,
Who's always there? Ye, oh me dearest, with ye cute twisted tail.
Ye ain't asking for riches, ye 'ave no need fer em stones,
Ye just want me to hug ye and whisper, "Me luv, yer not alone".

So ye sleep, sleep, me sweet Brunhild, may ye dreams be serene.
With em mud baths, warm sunshine, and yer ol' dwarf in between.
Ye know, I'll always be there, ye bearded guardian light.
And together, me pink pumpkin, we'll get through the darkest of nights.

Having finished his ballad and, seemingly, being overwhelmed with emotions, the Dwarven poet tumbled over the side of the rooftop cafe and fell down straight on Terrens' stall. Was it the stall's canopy that broke the fall or the dwarf's sheer resilience is unknown, but when the guards grabbed him by his feet to drag him away, the Dwarven rascal was completely unscathed from the fall. Having had enough of his mischief for one night, the annoyed guards threw the dwarf to the pigsty for him to sober up. Had they listened to his love ballad more attentively, the guards would've probably found a different way to deal with the cheeky troublemaker. Alas, the pigsty was just the place where the infamous dwarf Einar Madbeard wanted to be.

From the accounts of eyewitnesses and stories circulating around the Inn, written down by a humble unnamed traveller who lost his sleep that night

There is no signature, though if questioned, the guard by the gate would indicate the message was left by a young half-sun elven woman. She seems somehow irritated as she returns inside, but she does not clarify her feelings.
A long, emotionally charged conversation was held inside the Friendly Arm this morning, between the half-sun sorceress, the Mystran mage Sirion, and a Calishite woman. Much was spoken of lies, loss, resentment, the troubles in Amn, and many other things. Some time after the Calishite departed, the sorceress' feelings finally boiled over: Anger and hate, smothered in grief and drowned in tears.

The names "Maevyn", "Rynn", "Runa", and some others might have been overheard throughout this long discussion, and shortly after her breakdown, the sorceress accompanied Sirion via teleportation to Baldur's Gate. She did not remain there long, however, returning with an elegant crystal-tipped staff and her feelings back under control for the moment as she retired to her suite to get some more rest.

After a chance run-in with a family from Amn seeking refuge at the Friendly Arm Inn, a small woman with blonde hair could be seen scouting up and down the Lion's Way. She was keeping her eye out for more refugees coming from Amn, making sure to keep the Lion's Way path clear and safe for those traveling on it. She would even offer to help escort refugees to their destinations. Any who took her offer, and had children in their party, would see the blonde singing cheerful songs or telling happy stories to keep the children distracted while they traveled.

Having had ended an encounter with a refugee family outside of the Friendly Arms, Karos was intrigued by the magical talents that the family's youngest apparently had. While he was unsure of the source, he decided to see if the family had been followed out of Amn at all. Heading towards the Lion's Way with Aria Auciello and Grecknen to do a short patrol of the area leading up the Beregost, before looping back along the coast towards Candlekeep. Though there was no apparent meeting with the Mage Hunters, instead there were more than of the otherwise just as hostile locals laying alongside the road and nearby to the beach roasted in flames or burnt with acid.

As Karos felt a chill in his bones that could almost mimic the time he spent with Astrid, he looked down at the two satchels in his hand, rolling the stones around with a tilted head, but no tilted smile. There was an oddity, to these stones, emanating warmth, while still emanating cold. In some ways, he felt himself reflected, in those two little rocks. He wasn't entirely sure whether this was something that he could find comforting, or disturbing. He did know that they would lead him down paths that may burn as hot as Hellfire, even if his feet managed to find themselves placed in Cania. Having thought he'd found his own, he was conflicted. But there was a little bit of excitement, in these two little objects, as he whispered out "Beltorious?". Perhaps these pebbles, he thought might end up as two dice, to decide his fate. Whether that future was near, or far, he wasn't sure. But did have a few very important words, for some very important people.

A ways off the road to the Friendly Arm Inn, a group of three walked to the pond near the woods. A short blonde woman appeared to be throwing pie crumbs on the ground to attract the geese. When one of the geese got close enough, she appeared to pounce on the goose and grapple it. The two accompanying her continued to watch and offer small words of encouragement. Eventually, the woman was all smiles as she walked away with her goose prize.

The last night of Uktar was not a quiet one on the tradeway north of the Friendly Arm. Sporadic agonized shrieks and wails of a woman could be heard in the region just past midnight. Adventurous travellers (or monsters) who might have gone looking for the source would be greeted by the sights of a destroyed campsite within some ruins off the road. Acidic burns covered the inner walls of what remained of the aged and worn structure, nearby foliage and trees around the area having been partially melted or rendered misshapen due to corrosion. The camp itself had been set ablaze by means of fire. Barely a scrap of tentcloth or charred piece of debris was left behind.

Whatever had occurred - there were no bodies or remains to be found, despite the almost cataclysmic scene.

Over the past months, the talkative Mulani wanderer typically introducing herself as "Zeila! Linepret, from Mulhorand!" has mostly confined herself to the Friendly Arm Inn, complaining about the cold and chatting up those strangers who wandered into the warm indoors. Tricks and wordplay come quickly to her, even in this state; especially in this state, as she seeks relief from her boredom and inactivity.

Yet one might get the impression that the cold weather is not the only, nor the greatest, of her worries. Many of the faces once seen around her are not seen at all, anymore; others no longer seem to notice her, let alone seek her company. Although she has traveled up and down the Coast from Baldur's Gate all the way to Beregost, she has seldom chosen to travel alone, and perhaps this has been a greater factor towards her recent seclusion.

But as the locals are starting to notice, silence and idleness do not sit well with the young traveler, and for good or ill, it may only be a matter of time before she strikes out on her own...

Rumors would spread around the Friendly Arms Inn about how an Half Orc murdered a man by throwing him against a tree stump. And how a portal opened soon after with a tearful Erinyes that seemed sadden for the death of the man, and pleaded with Adventurers to take the body.

Was it really murder? Or was it by accident?

Was giving the body to the Erinyes a mistake?

Whos to say, some talks say...

"Vengeance is upon us."

Others say...

"The Erinyes got just what it needed, consider us fok'd"
