This year, only a small group had answered the priestess’s call.
She delivered her sermon, among other things, it was focused on community and standing together.
After the red-haired priestess of Rillifane had blessed of their hunting weapons, the two made their way to the central part of Glimmerwood.
They fought their way through orcs and mad satyr.
Finally, they found tracks: something had rubbed against the tree, leaving behind dark brown fur and blood.
The further they followed, the clearer the tracks became.
Finally, the two hunters stood face to face with the creature:
A massive wild boar with mighty tusks.
The boar was obviously longer in the prime of his youth. A veteran...who had visible endured many threats. the right eye had got a scratch...obviously at a time long before. The wound seems to be healed, but the scar is still a sign of his fiercely past. Arrows protrude from his flank, having burrowed deep into his flesh. They caused fresh wounds have been inflicted, and blood is trickling out. The beast snorts contemptuously and eyes the hunters with mounting fury. The creature seemed ready for on final battle in honour of the brave warrior of the forest that he once was.
The boar was running straight to the hunters. Naer’eanque stepped forward with her shield held up. She provoked the boar, with her challenging body-language. Maybe too much, because it was knocking her down.
Right in that moment Tramahsthas send his spear into the flank of the animal. Empowered by the force of wind and rain.
With pure will, born of anger and stubbornness the boar was still standing. Finally his legs wavered and with a last grunt...a last act of pride it closed it’s eyes and accepted it’s final rest.
Both hunters showed respect to their prey. Honouring the sacrifice and the confrontation it had offered.
The boar was brought to the camping site near Doron Amar, for sharing the prey.
The sacred hunt was over, and with it the long fast.
Season of spring would bring new bloom.
