Re: Coming Soon: Domains Rework and New Domains (Split 1.2)
The wiki has been fully updated to account for deity additions and domain rework. Individual deity and spell pages will be updated eventually, but the main articles are all set now. Going forward, please use the wiki for domain information, rather than the Google Sheet.

This will be the last update to this thread, as this project can now be considered finished.

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
$ isn't universal on all keyboards, players would hunt for it. @ is there however. The question, then: Should I go with a different symbol? If so, which one do you think I should use instead?

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
I'm inclined to suggest use of the Pipe symbol ( | ) located on the ( \ ) key above most Enter keys.
It's commonly associated with the C-style programming "Logical Or" ( || ) and general Linux terminal use.
The key is accessible and fairly unused, while being actuated easily with a single hand ( Shift + \ )

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
Well, it's as easy as using alt + 36 for alt codes even for those who don't have it on keyboard. Not super convenient, but workable.Aspect of Sorrow wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 4:45 pm$ isn't universal on all keyboards, players would hunt for it. @ is there however. The question, then: Should I go with a different symbol? Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
Whatever you do with the language tool, please make it so if you whisper and someone else outside of whisper range cannot read what the translation is. Currently I believe that is the case.

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
I think I might try putting up a poll now that some suggestions have been made. For my part, $ is easily the most convenient, at Shift+4; the others are RightAlt+V and RightAlt+W, respectively, neither of which is great, but not so bad either. (I haven't even tested whether I can use RightAlt with the NWN2 chatbox, though - I know @ drove me nuts in StarCraft 2 and on Ravenloft, among other places...)
For the record: I've voted for $, _, and = myself (Shift+4, Shift+-, Shift+0). Other options besides the ones proposed include (with Croatian keyboard combinations):
- € (RightAlt+E)
- ~ (RightAlt-1)
- ¤ (RightAlt+Ž)
- ÷ (RightAlt+Š)
- × (RightAlt+Đ)
For obvious reasons, I've only suggested options I might plausibly have easy access to.
For slightly less obvious reasons related to code complexity and performance, I'll only implement support for whichever symbol gets the most votes.

Ohh, I wonder...

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
The reason this occurs is the translation is considered a server message. I actually asked (more than a year ago) to have the translation NOT be in the combat log because it can be missed. If you can figure out how to keep translations in the chat window and make it so whispers work that would be rad.

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
I've added a change that should cause messages to translate at the same range at which they become eligible for RP XP. (My reasoning here is that they presumably only stop being eligible for XP when nobody can hear them anymore.) This will be a slight reduction in translation range for regular messages, and a large reduction in translation range for whispers.Xorena wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:17 amThe reason this occurs is the translation is considered a server message. Additionally, I'll test a system that should allow me to add aliases for languages. If you remember what Rhifox tried to do a couple of months ago, I'm basically aiming for the same end result, but hopefully without breaking everything in the process!

Re: [FEEDBACK WANTED] Language Tool Upgrades
You can skip this and just allow the character preference be set by the player with default being $
Have it assign as a value to the persistent item in inventory and read at Nexus to assign to the character object lessening object searching for subsequent messages.

I suppose I might have figured out many of the pieces involved in your idea... but not all of them, and not enough to confidently implement it.Aspect of Sorrow wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:36 pm You can skip this and just allow the character preference be set by the player with default being $

On another note: Good news! RightAlt+(KEY) combinations are perfectly viable for me to use.

Re: [Coming Soon] Scry Changes
Lol. I first read the title as: [Coming Soon] Scary Changes.DaloLorn wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 3:05 pm Soooo, I mistakenly posted this thinking it was about to go live.
When the next patch goes live (not tonight!), you'll notice a few changes to the Scry:
- Level obfuscation is no longer a thing. Those of you who choose to show their levels will now show their exact levels.
- That might be a scary change for some of you (newcomers and veterans alike), which is one reason why the Scry will now default to hiding your area and level the first time you log in after this update. (... It occurs to me that this default might not be applied if you're hiding your area, your level, or your player name. Tweak your settings accordingly!)

Re: [Coming Soon] Scry Changes
It could be seen as one of those!

I think I'm going to like it. It's going to make it easier to judge whether there's anyone I can feasibly adventure with, assuming they don't all panic and hide their level... and assuming they realize they can show it.

Re: [Coming Soon] Scry Changes
Does ones Level determine if there is ability to RP and/or adventure with another? Maybe grind, yes, but not be IC and just react to the environment as one finds it.
I personally wish that it was “known” IC of places—like a certain tavern or a campfire—was a “staging” or hang out for PCs of similar or relative power.
The game totally goes lopsided when you have Level 1s trying to interact with Level 30s, and not just because of mechanics-dictating-role play.
Scene One:
Level 1 toon: “Hi. I’m a goblin killer extraordinaire!”
Level 30 toon: “Pff. Lick my boots, kid. I have cleaved a Balor in half more times than I care to remember. And do not even get me started on the Dracoliches….”
