Remember that there will be a second round of (minor) balancing for the Shapechange shapes when we get a better feel for where they landed. Only thing that is for certain is that the big gap between the cornugon (former horned devil) and the rest will be addressed.

Hopefully, you don't mean addressed DOWN!

Possible Bug Report:

Weapon Properties and spells—like Flame Weapon—are not transferring over to the Iron Golem shape.

Orcs still get Sun Blindness when changed form. This occurs with WildShape as well, for a very long time now. Whatever fix got put in to make orcs feel the pain, carried over still in druid and polymorph shapes.

Also, is it possible to get a human/elf/dwarf/etc shape that isn't carrying a weapon?

While the Polyspellfix is awesomesauce... literally and tastily... I have 4 of the items stuck in my inventory and I cannot transfer it into oblivion. Plus it weight .3 lbs each :P

Be aware that there is an issue with the item merging in general (and this most likely affects wildshape as well), that sometimes they don't transfer. It seems to be a timing issue related to the number of buffs you have cast on yourself at the time. There will be a change to the "behind the scenes mechanics" of this in the next update, which I hope will eliminate this issue for good.
Currently the shapes without weapons do not get transferrable item properties.

I realize this. But I have to cast Flame Weapon on my Toon's weapon first, then Shift, and Flame Weapon still doesn't transfer over the to the Iron Golem forms damage...but it transfers over for other Shapes.

It does? I thought temporary effects were not supposed to transfer?

Greater Magic Weapon does not seem to transfer either.

dedude wrote:Next update will see a few additional changes for Polymorph Self and Shapechange:

Weapon Merging
This is already in effect for the Polymorph spell, but we now got it working for Shapechange as well. Only shapes using weapons will merge, and temporary effects on weapons will not merge.

Item Merging
These spells have been aligned with the wildshape mechanics, so item properties will merge in the same way they already do for druids. That means deflection AC, natural AC and armor AC will merge with shapes. Dodge AC will not merge. Item properties like skills will only merge best slot.
The AC merging comes with reduced base AC on all shapes, but items and spells will be able to offset that.

Shape Shift feat
Both spells will now work more like the PnP versions in that you can change shape at will by spending a round. Casting the spell will give you the Shape Shift feat, and while the spell remains active that feat can be used to shift shape. You still need to un-shift using the standard way of cancelling polymorph effects.
This will give some more versatility to these spells, both for RP and combat. It will also allow players to temporarily un-shift and save their character (which is not possible to do while polymorphed).

The shapes are still up for QC review and will probably see a balancing update in the future. The wiki will be updated soon-ish to reflect the changes.
Just re-posting something from earlier in the thread.

Flame Weapon merges to Wildshape.

Shapes like Iron Golem do very little dmg, and Flame Weapon not only helps to relieve that issue, it makes the form useful against trolls!!

Well, Iron golem isn't really supposed to have the same dmg as Fire Giant for example...the shapes (and I am so very glad for that) have each their strengths and weakneses except for few generalist ones like werewolf. Iron golem has an insane 40 SR which is great for withstanding the first few spells a boss mage throws at you allowing you to stomp them pretty easily after or even change to dmg form when he's all out of spells and cleaving him apart with fire Giant. Btw Deflection is great spell for changing forms mid combat since it can be triggered after using the Shift Shape feat for the one round before you shift back into something.

Which makes the Iron Golem pretty bad choice for trolls since it's biggest strength is SR and you have three forms with fire dmg - Fire Giant, Palrathee (or what's it's name) and Erinyes

Look, Flame Weapon used to work for Shapechange, for a looooong time. It works for Wildshape. WTF?

Spells are supposed to work with Shapes, yes?

Now, if you want to promote the “strengths” of Iron Golem, let’s review: the spell Spell Resistance can grant 42+ SR, and the Iron Golem is actually supposed to be completely immune to spells. :|
