The Tales of Evaliir Leafmaster.

Unread post by HollowedHeart »

Sitting in the back of a rather small caravan ran by a group of halflings, one Evaliir Leafmaster a young half-elf with jet-black hair and a leaf shaped earring played a game of cards with a rather large and imposing half-orc.

"Your turn Grunk and I'm winning." The young half-elf said with a grin at his friend. "Not a chance in the world that you are going to catch up."

"That's what you say, puny little leaf man... Don't you always say that the possibilities are endless? I'll make you eat your words whelp!" The half-orc bellowed with a tusk-filled grin, slamming a full house on the table..much to the young half-elf's dismay.

"Well damn" he said as the color drained from his face "You've beat me! How much do I owe you now?" He asked with a grumble, digging into his relatively small coin pouch.

"15 gold-pieces...go ahead an' cough em up, leaf boy" The half orc said, grinning rather proudly at his accomplishment.
.........................................................................................
15 minutes later
Evaliir sat upon the roof of one of the many wagons in the caravan, gazing out at the rolling plains and passing trees with a smile on his face.
"Damned green-skin robbed me, I say. Oh well.." He kicked his feet up as he leaned back to rest his head in his interlaced fingers. "Cant win all the time now can I? Good change of pace... especially so far away from that place.."

Yes, Definitely better than that place... He fell into his thoughts.

It's been a couple months now since I left that shat hole of a city behind me.. Given, I'll miss my old teacher dearly but there's not much of anything I could do about his death.... Without him there, there's nothing left in Calimport for me.. not all the wenches or all the gold couldn't make me stay... I think it was good for me to set out..right about time that I decided to pursue a new life outside of the Calimshite desert... I'll be in Baldur's Gate soon... Hopefully, a new world will be waiting for me.

The young half-elf smiles as he closed his steel-gray eyes and fell into a comfortable slumber.

*as the man arrives at the gate a voice can be heard greeting the caravan master, the wagon unblanaces slightly as the dark skinned white haired man jumps up on the back of the wagon* Yes sir, I appreciate you letting me take a look. *voices can be heard* Yes, but its not really my place unless you give me permission.. so like I said its aprpeciated. *Geirard smiles slightly as he sees a half elf form sleeping in the wagon.* I'll be dipped, you sir look like someone I haven't seen it quite awhile. *Geirard squats down looking closely into the man's face examining him looking for that spark of recognition.*

Evaliir looked up at the man from his laid back position with a slight smile on his lips.
"Cant say I know you, sir" He chuckles a bit, pushing himself up and looking at the dark-skinned man before him. "Though I -do- find yourself to be quite familiar... Havent been through Calimport recently have you?" He chuckles a bit as he peers into the eyes of the dark-skinned one before him.

"Either way, I'd be happy to get to know you if that's what you wish...I wont be staying with the Caravan."

((Nothing wrong with old characters getting to know each other all over again..lol. I think these two might have some fun together..I promise this one wont be too much of a pain in the arse,..*coughs*))

2 years prior
Evaliir's swift footsteps echoed in his ears as he quickly moved through the woods, he could have sworn that he saw something... though he wasn't quite sure just what it was.

He came to a halt within a small clearing, his chest heaving from the exertion made in his efforts to chase down whatever it was that he saw, his steel-gray eyes darting left and right with little to no success... He almost gave up and even began to walk away, that was until the giggling began.

A high-pitched, feminine and melodic giggle like the sound of windchimes echoed around him, bouncing from one tree to the next. Evaliir's eyes darted around, trying to keep up with the sound, trying to locate whomever his invisible visitor was... In his frustration he began to knock an arrow to his bow right before being slammed in the middle of his chest.

He flew backwards to the ground, his bow flying from his fingers as his back slammed into the cool moist earth and when he finally opened his eyes to look, he found the most beautiful woman he has ever seen straddling his chest, naked in every way save for the few copper colored leaves that clung to her breasts and private bits in a not-so-successful attempt to cover up.

With long auburn hair tangled with leaves and twigs and skin the color of polished bronze, the woman placed a single slender finger on Evaliir's chest with a giggle.

"Ugh..Well, that was..definitely..unexpected" said the young half-elf as he looked into the woman's golden eyes. "Hello, I am Evaliir Leafmaster.... Can I help you?" He asked her, clearly uncomfortable with her being on top of him.... she simply giggled and bent over to kiss him on his lips with a few simple words and light giggles coming from her before disappearing without a trace."You're cute."

Through all of this, Evaliir may have simply brushed it off as a dream, if not for the small leaf shaped earring left upon his chest and the wonderful feeling upon his lips... and from that day forward, he will always take the time to remember that woman from the forest with a smile on his face.

The ranger perched quietly within the branches above the woods of sharp teeth with bow in hand as he knocked a pair of well-crafted arrows and peered out at the group of orcs below.

He has been tracking this particular group for the past few days, recently arriving in the area and moving with what seemed to be a generally lost manner.. He finally deducted that they were more likely than not, heading to join the clans that rested within the caves further west and this, he could not allow to happen...and so, he waited.

He counted their numbers as they slowly fell to sleep around a hastily made fire, seven in total 5 males and 2 females.... one of the males stayed awake.. the orcs seeming to have some semblence of strategy as they set up guard shifts to watch over their sleeping comrades.

Evaliir slowly but surely moved closer, whispering a prayer to his goddess, asking for her protection and answered with the familiar feeling of warmth as bark enveloped his skin in a comfortable and protective shell.

He lifted his bow and let loose, not a sound save for the soft twang of his bowstring as the black-feathered arrows flew forward and slammed into the orc's throat without mercy, soon followed by several more in it's chest... It would have been a quick and silent death if not for the fact that the orc fell backward and into one of the sleeping females whom awoke with a shout, just in time to take several arrows into her chest and stomach as well.

By this time, the entire group was awake and scrambling for their crossbows, scanning the seemingly quiet woods around them, searching for their hidden assailant.

Five more arrows came down from a nearby tree, instantly turning the smallest of the orcs into a bloody pin-cushion as it flaid ever so violently, knocking it's nearest companion's head off with a swing of it's viscious axe just as several more arrows found their way into it's throat...It was then that the remaining orcs finally saw their assailant, a thin figure cloaked in dark leathers with skinn that appeared to have been made of wood.

"Elf! Kill the arrgh!" One of the orcs shouted in anger, cut short by a pair of feathered arrows now protruding from it's shoulder as the ranger dropped from the tree, casually knocking another arrow as the injured orc furiously charged, swinging it's axe back and preparing to bring it down upon the frail looking half-elf whom smirked at him and simply stepped to the side.

The orc's axe however came down at a rapid speed, and though the vast majority of the damage was avoided, the half-elf still felt a blow as the axe grazed across his chest. "Ack! Damned swine!" Shouted the elf in what the orcs would call the Tree-Lover Tongue before he leaped backwards, knocking another pair of arrows and releasing them into the base of the tumbling orc's skull.

Evaliir slowly lifted himself back into a casual stance, glaring at the remaining orc with eyes full of barely contained hatred for the race, a feeling pressed down through the generations of his elven ancestors and he lifted his bow, aiming without mercy at the female before opening his mouth to speak "Start running, orc" He said in elven and the orc started to move in a dead sprint, only to be shot several times in the back, falling to the ground as it dropped a bundle of rags...wailing rags.

Evaliir stepped closer, moving to the rags with light steps that casually stepped over the dead orcs, firing several more arrows into the female orc as it grapped for his foot in a feeble attempt to stop him.

The orc whelp wailed like there was no tomorrow, ignorant to the world around it, ignorant to the shadow that loomed over it, the steel-grey eyes peering down at the rag covered creature beginning to lose their hatred, softening to the point of pity as he readied another arrow and aimed at the whelps head.
This, is a better fate than what you would otherwise have.... Forgive me.

Evaliir sat high in a tree within the Wood of Sharp Teeth, casually leaning against it's hard firm trunk as he stared through the leaves and over the horizon, his expression filled with trouble, anger and clear sorrow.

"What have I done?" The half-elf asked himself with a voice as soft as a whisper. "What have I done?"

Images of orcs danced through his mind, so many orcs slain at his hands by arrow and blade but none ever had such an impact on him as what happened a mere few days past.... He peered through the leaves as his mind raced with questions, a heart seeking for answers within his soul.

What have I done? Why did I do it? The creature was but a mere child, what place did I have to kill...no...murder the thing? Despite the blood that flowed through it's veins and the potential to turn into a threat against the world, it was innocent... a blank slate.... a creature that did not understand what it was.... I killed it? Why? Did I let the anger and hatred towards orcs that has festered within the bloodline of my father and my father's father take control of my actions? Were the actions caused by some lingering magic of hatred? Or was it simply my own mindless anger... my shameless bloodlust.... my heartless soul?

Evaliir sat in the tree, still as night itself as the last rays of sunlight disappeared over the horizon, anger and shame filled him...bursting from within...tearing him apart ever so slowly... He feared that perhaps he was losing that which would make him the ranger he was supposed to be... He feared the darkness in the path ahead of him... He feared that perhaps it might just be too late.
