Embracing the Darkness part 1 - Cazna Sshamath

Unread post by Eviloth »

Ever since Cazna could remember, the laws of Sshamath made her feel like just another basic citizen. With no honor or respect that she would have heard tales of other Yathrins(priestesses) in other cities gaining unimaginable power, respect, and the citizens fearing them. It was a wonder why her family even stayed within the confines of the limits of Sshamath.

Often Cazna would even think she was nothing but just a dalharil(daughter) born into an unfavored family of Lolth. Much of that wasn't so far off, as all of the caverns of the underworld used the city of Sshamath as what an ill-managed, unprepared Qu'ellar(House) of Lolth can make happen unless they are strict.

Cazna still endured behind the closed walls of her Qu'ellar the standards of training of a Yathrin, but experienced truly none of the benefits. However, she wasn't the only Yathrin in this mind set. The daughters of Lolth all felt cursed, as this city held no desire or positions to welcome them with open arms.

The history of Sshamath offered very little compared to what other cities ruled under Lolth's control gave, yet Cazna did see opportunities in such hardship.

As a Yath'abban (acolyte) of the Dark Queen, she made sure to attend both her Qu'ellar's Yath (House Temple) and the cities. She always wanted to make sure she knew whom everyone was, their station, and their power compared to hers. Her desire to covet the position of the Ulathtallar (Arch Priestess of the City) was tense even for one of her position. How could see even get to such a thing. Becoming a Yathrin was far even from her sights.

Other Qu'ellars were also under the tight control and were held limited in their actions. It is a wonder that the practice of worship was even allowed in the city by the Conclave. Cazna feared such a thing would be outlawed but Lolth willing, would not happen.

She deemed the only way to survive amongst the ants was to mimic herself as one......diplomacy was paramount.

Embracing the Darkness part 2 - Cazna Sshamath

Knowing that the will of Lolth offered many different avenues based on the strict faith and drive to learn, Cazna wanted to be unique in her divine power she pulled from the Dark Queen. Only that of which would be most effective at aiding her and cause great fear and harm into her enemies. She knew that an enemy that can't see you is highly disadvantaged, and instantly put in such a state.

Witnessing what many faeruks have incorporated into their tomes she would also call upon from Lolth. The bastard children of the Conclave would not be compared to her in power.

"They may run this Lolth forsaken city, but it is merely a test by the Dark Queen upon her chosen dalharil (daughters) to rise above the ants and topple their hill." Cazna thought. Cazna believed that remaining quiet to her opposition for now was the best choices. However, internally her Qu'ellar offered much problems as the Yath'abbans (acolytes) would be picked to rise and gain the status of Yathrin (full priestess). But one problem, they would have to compete with one another. Yath'abban Cazna was not the strongest one, even though she was amazingly accurate with her morningstar. Others seemed fully trained with the fighting style of a sargtlin(soldier) and as well with the blessings of Lolth. Out of the three Yath'abban, only one would rise too the status of Yathrin.

The Ilharess (matron mother) and Yathtallar (Head Priestess ) ordered the Yath'abban's to the dinning hall as normally they would all take there normal seats and and be served their dinner. While they ate, the Yath'tallar explained that from this point on, two of them would no longer walk amongst the land of the living and the Yath'abbans all started to look very sinister at each other. Cazna feared that the two stronger would gain up on her first and then finish each other off, however the servants came around and passed out the fine wine and all raised their goblets to initiate the competition before them.

"Two would die, again", Cazna thought. The Ilharess and Yathtallar stood up, but a smirk pierced the Yath'tallar's face.

Myr, one of the Yath'abban's, pulled a vial of acid out and flung it over Jyx who at the same time was in the process of summoning a creature to help aid her in killing the other two, however the burning disrupted her control over the creature ....a beautiful demon humanoid shaped like a rivval started clawing at her trying to rip her throat out. The tanar'ri succeeded and was enjoying the blood spraying over the Yath'abban that unwisely summoned one without protective magic upon her.

Cazna, grabbed her morningstar and rolled under the table, gripping her handle tight. Looking like she was anticipating for something to happen.

"Damn, why isn't it working!?!" Cazna spat out. The Yathtallar now smilling. Myr already at this time unshealthed her long sword casting enchantments upon herself and readying her defenses.

"Come out from the table Dalninil (sister)!" Myr commanded. "Usstan want to offer up another sacrifice to our Dark Queen!"

Cazna knew she was no match to fight this one but still had faith in her plan. "Usstan wouldn't recommend Dos come any close to me jalil(female)!" Cazna replied. "Dos (you) might make such matters worse."

In the corner of her eye she spotted one of the servants. His eyes were extremely red, burning red of an unnatural color and he then offered up a smile to her. Rising his top lip he offered her a sight of his razor sharp teeth. This was no ordinary Ilythiiri(drow).

Myr approached the end of the table seeing Cazna below it almost hiding what it seemed like. "Before Usstan kill Dos Cazna, tell me ....why is that?" Myr asked.

"Because of the Black adder venom!" Cazna smirked. "A mere exploitation of the rules Dalninil (sister), the Yathtallar initiated it to beginning when we raised the goblets, however, the poison was specifically put into yours and hers prior and Dos (you) drank of it after this started."

Pointing to the jaluk standing on the far side of the wall, "And Usstan promised this nalfeshnee two souls of Lolth in exchange for aiding me, don't move to much more.....Myr, it will only make the poison burn more and increase the stiffness and paralysis."

Myr's mouth started to feel very dry as her attention was bent towards the jaluk that was slowly visibly become more abyssal like before her.

"Oh another thing jalil," Cazna smirked, "If the poison doesn't kill Dos, he'll just have to consume Dos alive while Dos can't move!"

The Yathtallar seemed pleased as the rest of the Qu'ellar came in and witness the demon eviscerating Myr as her body dropped to the ground and couldn't even hold her own blade. And with Jyx's spinal cord keeping her head partially attached while her own summon's was instilling revenge upon her.

"Rise Yathrin Cazna!" The Yathtallar commanded, "From this day forth Dos will be part of the Yath!" With that the Yathtallar evoked a divine magical power that blasted the tanar'ri out of the Qu'ellar.
