Re: Corn Fed - The Story of John Buckturner
John knelt before the altar, bowing his head in deep reverence of the deity that has always had some influence in his life, one way or the other. This was the altar of Ilmater.
John grabbed hold of the symbol that hanged from his neck and whispered, something highly unusual for the normally loud and rowdy country bumpkin, a tone of voice so calm, so soft that it is reserved for Illmater's ears alone.
Pa, Ah've arrived 'ere in Baldur's Gate. Ah left me home behind, Ah left me mother there in tha care o' Brother Turk an' Ah have traveled tha roads ter move in yer name, ter protect yer flock an' ter guard tha weak an' tha poor.
Ah have lifted ma arms an' shield an' ventured inter dese lands an' ah have challenged an' defeated many o' them tha' would wish harm on tha innocen', tha young an' tha old... Ah have lifted ma sword arm ter figh', ah have lifted ma sheild ter protect.. Ah act in yer name pa an' Ah pray tha' ye'd continue ter guide me through dese 'ere times an' bless me wit' tha will an' preseverance ter do yer work fer all o' eternity.
