The shadow made it's way through the foggy valley of the winged beasts with ease. It did not fear the poisons they brought, for, it had a poison of it's own. A long, slow creeping poison of the mind and spirit. One of despair and a complete loss of hope in the end. A poison that even the great bringers of light could not cure once it caught hold and in the end, this poison would spread like a great plague.......

The moon was high within the sky and near full as the shadow made it's way to Beregost and was passing by a commoner on the Tradeway who came to a sudden stop. The shadow continued slowly pass the commoner and as it did, a great feeling of despair fell upon the poor soul who did not know. The poor soul who had no faith in the God's anymore, had lost it all in life, a poor soul who would now fall victim to the slow poison the shadow had to offer. The shadow stops, slowly turns to face the man now filled with despair and smiles. In not but a whisper,"From the depths of Faerun shall rise a fanatical beast. This beast shall bring forth the destruction of souls. Follow me, and be spared....resist, and you shall perish as a prisoner within the cages of the very Abyss itself and know nothing but pain with no hope of escape for all eternity" and the shadow looks into the very eyes of the man who stood there with tears flowing down his face, for, he caught only a slight vision of the pain he would know and the choice was clear. Join the shadow........
****************************************
The shadow made it's way to a location outside of town with the poor soul in tow. It questions the man on the events as of late and one thing comes to the surface. Suspicion and doubt. Suspicion and doubt in the church of Lathander for the aiding of Orc in the area of Beregost. The man told the shadow of a recent event in which a crowd had gathered in front of the Temple in protest to the aiding of Orc who had been brought back from the dead. This, was good.......The seed had already been planted for the shadow and the work had already begun in the minds and hearts of the people of Beregost. This shall be the place to start. The shadow instructs the man to write a note,

Dear people of Beregost. You have been decieved and have been missdirected! The Priests within the Temple Lathader have lied! They have indeed been aiding the very Orc who have taken your children! Brought them back from the very death that so many brave souls had brought to them! They claim to be the bringer's of light and yet, darkness is all that shows itself pouring from within that Temple! Rise up and show to them that this cannot continue! I have taken my own life

and the man stops to look up to the shadow with confusion upon his face. "Continue...." speaks the shadow in but a whisper, but, the man cannot find the strength to do so. Still, he tries with trembling hands he continues to write.....

I have taken my own life for I cannot live with knowing what I have done to aid them in such as this! They will claim they do not know my face, but, it too shall be a lie.....forgive me of my shortcomings......

and with that, the shadow lays the man to rest. It appeared the poor soul had taken his own life with a vial of poison......the shadow places the body in such a location so that when he is found, it shall be too late to revive him from the depths of death for questioning......the shadow soon finds an eager young street urchin who cannot wait to make a coin or two and instructs them to stay well hidden, not to be seen and to post this note and that they would be paid well to do so and paid well to keep their mouth shut or pay the price themselves for a loose tongue....and if they did well, then, the shadow had more tasks for them in the future.....

With the first task finished and the note posted up, the shadow makes it's way to the foul Temple of it's dark God. It removes the armor and lays to rest the weapons and shield and begins it's wicked prayers to an even more wicked God..........

The mist gathered around the shadow as it spent time in prayer in that foul temple and hours had passed. It came out of prayer with only one thought on it's mind, the future. It gathered it's items and made it's way back into the woods once again. Soon, it came across a poor soul of an adventurer that just lay waste to a Gnoll in the region. It smiled at the hapless soul and chuckled. "What is so funny?" the adventurer asks and the shadow replied in but a whisper, "You...." and with that the Shadow began to mumble and a dark prayer poured forth from it's lips. Then, death rose in the form of a skeleton from beneath the feet of the shadow and the adventurer looked on with wonder. "Are you a Necromancer?" the poor soul asks. In but a whisper, "No, much worse..." it replies with a smirk upon it's face. Surely the poor soul could feel the despair upon the mind for, the adventurer and the undead beast became locked in battle and the shadow was pleased. Mortaly wounded, the poor soul fled deep into the woods with the shadow in pursuit. It did not take long for the shadow to find it's victim. "Kneel before me and be spared, resist and perish. For Bane is Lord and you shall know him as so..." it whispered to the adventurer. "Never shall I bow before you or your Bane!" it replied as the adventurer began to fight valiently once again with all the resistance it could muster. Resistance was futile......Even with the aid of it's poor friend who stumbled upon the battle, they both perished in the woods. Their bodies left as a reminder to the dangers of the region and the Orc within.......Blood had been spilled in the name of the shadow's God and it was happy.....the future had begun.....
