On this day, a plot was hatched and swiftly put down.
Fingers are being pointed every which way, but the obvious facts can be seen and felt by all: A series of powerful explosions were set off in the early hours of the morning, rippling through the merchant stores and farmlands.
Perhaps the most incredible part of the entire plot was an audacious attack on the Duchal Palace itself, with all four Dukes in residence. An enormous wagon laden with smokepowder was driven towards the gates, though the Flaming Fist officially state that it would have in no way resulted in the destruction of the palace.
A quick-thinking merchant newly arrived apparently pointed it out to the Flaming Fist, who fought a brave holding action. Proclaiming himself a member of the Perfectly Legitimate Merchants League, the newcomer buys a round in a number of taverns to celebrate his good fortune and good luck.
An investigation has been launched into the nature of the attack, as well as examinations of the assailants. Any citizens with information or suspicious sightings are asked to come forward; a reward is on offer for pertinent information.
"Remember the Rotting" is a refrain heard throughout the taverns by those who have lost something on this bleak night.

Re: Remember The Rotting
After getting things squared away at the local Triadic temples, Sir Rokranon heads to the ducal palace to see if there is any immediate task he can undertake from his liege-lords, and to find out any more information about these attacks.

[Ilmatari healers are dispatched to tend to those suffering from burns and other wounds during the chaos of the 'attack'. Clean up efforts are underway and shelter is offered at the temple to those who have lost homes in the explosions that ripped through the farmlands.]

Re: Remember The Rotting
Another wagon is destroyed following a brief but fierce skirmish, this time safely down the Trade Way. The two surviving assailants fled, only to meet their end shortly after.
Whoever brought them to justice has yet to step forward, raising further doubts about this series of events.
As is quickly becoming the sour joke amongst Flaming Fist investigators, always more questions, never more answers.

Following the letter he sent to Candlekeep earlier, arrives at the Keep after hearing rumor of the second wagon to inquire with his fellow guards and the scholars about current events.
