[The Jeweled Gauntlet]

**Rumors of a large foreign caravan entering the city seeking the council of the Grand Dukes has begun to take on a bit more substance. The official word coming from the palace workers and guards is that the wealthy merchants from afar, Calimshan and beyond it was heard, have been granted official approval from the Dukes to fortify themselves within the city walls and set up an office of trade and commerce. It appears the merchants have declared themselves as The Jeweled Gauntlet Trading Co. and have already had a large cargo ship enter the Port with supplies and merchandise. These supplies have been reportedly delivered into a warehouse under rent within the East Docks district along the shoreline.

However, there is still some controversy surrounding the new and wealthy company as they are believed to have on hand a hired personal guard. Apparently, they have yet to discuss the matter with the Duke Sir Eltan of the Flaming Fist as to whether the guard is appropriate, given the circumstance the city already has hired mercenaries to protect it's citizens. Never the less, these wealthy men wish not to disrupt the politics of the land and have requested a presence with the Duke on the matter over dinner as well to make a generous donation towards the efforts of the Flaming Fist...**
