Sacrifice for power

The five adventurers gathered to listen to the fearful goblin. The goblin relayed the information through several broken sentences. The adventurers agreed to help the goblins rescue their chief from the Duergar and Illithids.

The goblin claimed that the Duergar were sacrificing him to bring Outsiders into the Underdark. The 5 citizens of the city of Sshamath set off through the caves to the abode of Duergar. They found the Goblin chief deep in the Duergar mine. Salamanders, Ilithids and Duergar were preparing the Chief for sacrifice. A large battle ensued. After the noise from magic and swinging blades ended, silence ensued. The adventurers had triumphed. The scorched cave with remains of several creatures was eerily quiet. Then the chief mumbled from behind his gag. The brave adventurers untied him then searched the bodies of the slain Duergar. Upon one Duergar the party found written in Duergar formally sealed letter in a crystal tube. They returned to Sshamash.

The wizard read the note aloud. He sighed with worry.
"It says that whoever is behind the chiefs abduction has already sacrificed 2 other victims. Only one more is needed to bring Outsiders into the caves. Perhaps we have stopped them from succeeding. I do not think so. They will try again to bring the Outsiders into these caves for their purposes."

...to be continued next weekend. If any of the 5 players who were in the adventure would like to add to this post, please do.

A Drow patrol enters Sshamath. They are bloodied and carrying two limp bodies. The Drow Chosen approaches his patrol in dismay. "what is going on here?"

The patrol Seargent hands the Chosen a letter in his offhand as his weapon arm hangs limply by his side

The Chosen opens the scroll. It reads simply. "The ritual is complete Master. But the Outsiders will not commit to our cause. They have sent one of themselves as a vanguard. He wishes to observe us and report on our success."

The Chosen does not bother for an explanation on how the scroll was obtained. He thinks, it can wait.

Going to continue this event around 10pm Saturday......

The Drow Chosen muses at the events of the last few weeks. She thinks it was a guess, but it seems the Duergar and their allies WERE merely a nuisance. Who was that Cleric. He brought me an Outsiders head. It WAS merely Duergar being uppity. The Outsiders abandoned them. The Heroine explained everything clearly to me. There is still the matter of the Illithids who destroyed my patrol. They must be removed and sent to Hell. Too bad they were mostly talk. This city needs a real threat to make it reach its potential.

*The Balor and the Death Knight toast each other with some eerie kind of fluid. The Death Knight speaks*

"Looks like this hovel known as Sshamath has some teeth. They seemed to have churned out some hardy souls. The Ilithids have been reduced in strength and they and the Duergar are begging for our help now. They shall make a couple of brave cohorts for when we sack this place and force Mezoberranzen to beg to be our servants."

*The Balor issues a roar of laughter from deep within his stomache. Smoke from the liquid escapes the Death Knights nostrils and his rotted lips turn into a fiendish grin*

*Brug slowly stews Slurg into a pot of boiling roots resembling onions and potatoes*

"Mean nasty Drow kill Brug's faithful servant Slurg. Slurg will feed many of our tribe in his honor."

....nearby in Sshamath another is left to wonder of the days events.

*Dii'na the Drow patrol leader thinks to herself after reviewing all reports.*

"This cannot be beneficial. Undead attacking the goblins. Perhaps they need a foothold near Sshamath to continue their mischief against us. How could they even think that they could begin to match us in strength."
