The Search for the Mysterious Mage's Missing Magical Items

Aron Times is in the common room of the Helm and Cloak, socializing with the more affluent members of society, when he remembers that the mage who went by "The Wanderer" offered a reward for some missing magic items. The man had sent Aron, along with a party of adventurers, to retrieve a bag of magic items stolen by a ghoul. The party had succeeded in finding the bag, but it was later discovered that some items were missing.
The man was obviously hiding something. The only item in the bag was a broken hilt, missing its gemstone pommel and blade.
Aron goes around the various taverns and inns in Baldur's Gate to gather information. He uses gold to buy food and drink for the many patrons in these establishments to loosen their tongues and get them interested in his quest.
Aron Times offers a reward of 1,000 gold for the missing items. He had a feeling that it would be in his best interests to get the items before the Wanderer did. A hunch, you could call it.
