It is deep in the night, a fog settled over the wood. Audible are the chirping of crickets, the rustling of smaller woodland creatures, and the occasional wolf howling. A snap of a few twigs alerts to all a prescence of something larger. A bear perhaps? Nay, for through the shadowy fog a silhouette of a humanoid figure walks the woods. It walks a certain distance and stops in its tracks. Simple movements, ritualistic almost, come from the silhouette in the distance. A dim red glow comes from around it and dissipates as soon as it glows its brightest. The figure then walks deeper into the wood and vanishes into the thick fog.

Upon the sunrise anyone walking through the wood would notice that there is a patch of dead plant life, within a large circle. Trees shedding leaves, wildflowers wilted, grass and weeds brown and dry as if starved of water. It's as if the plant life had just ceased to live. No outer force is indicated, and upon removing a plant from the ground, even the roots look drained of moisture, despite the ground being moist. One could assume a plant affecting disease, perhaps?
