I would put a date here, but I have absolutely no clue what it is. Quite silly of me, I know.
Today was my coming-of-age ceremony, though only within my own four-person family. Father and Mother both worked very hard to prepare the perfect day for me. They had my favorite food laid out on the table, like a banquet! Father's spicy hot potato and beef stew, mother's berry salad, and even with some imported Neverwinter Mead! This was the first time in years that they had splurged so, and I imagine that it sent them back quite a few gold pieces! I think Fuzzy enjoyed the food, except for the spicy stew. (Fuzzy is our wolf)
After the first half of the day which we spent being merry, eating and drinking to our heart's content, the real party began. We had long known that there was a small ragtag bunch of kobolds raiding small groups of travelers. While they hadn't seriously harmed anyone in the month or so that they had been around, they had more recently become more vicious. My parents presented to me a sword, my very own! Father had crafted it with a style that he had only spoken of in stories and tales. It is a beautiful thing indeed! Though it is a little big for me to use in one hand.
After they presented the sword to me, they told me to accompany them in dealing with the kobold bandits. I wholeheartedly agreed and followed them to a cave only a mile or two away from our own.
We dealt with them easily, and returned home to more rejoicing. I didn't rejoice quite as loudly after having a small kobold bash me in the arm with a club. Only a bruise now though.
I long knew that I would eventually leave my home and parents behind, and tomorrow is finally that day. I feel oddly exhilirated and afraid at the same time. But now i'm here in bed, wondering what new adventures await me when I leave!
