Personal History
His father made him take katana lessons at a nearby monastery when he was little because he was a meek child. Fang initially hated the lessons, but continued because katanas were expensive and his family was poor. Years later, he learned that his katana was a hand-me-down and had cost his family nothing. By that time, though, he could not imagine life without the discipline and purpose of the katana. Fang excelled at his art, it being a steady constant through the good times and the bad.
In his youth, Fang and a woman named Shasi were attracted to the quiet dignity that they saw in each other. Shasi married another, however.
After a couple of decades, Fang became the monastery's master of martial arts. Many did not approve; Fang was considered to be an even harsher and more strict instructor than the master he was replacing. The monastery's revered abbot approved the appointment, however, so people did not protest overly much.
When the abbot died several years later, the monastery found itself mourning its spiritual leader. Remembering the abbot's respect and approval for Fang, the monks ended up turning to the martial arts master for spiritual guidance. Deeply uncomfortable with this, Fang appointed a new master of martial arts and left the temple and Shou Lung altogether.
At the age of 40, he traveled to Rashemen on a spiritual journey. He stayed there for over a decade. While in Rashemen, Fang learned to dismiss the Faerunian pantheon as impermanent and unreliable.
Fang has come to the Sword Coast to live out his final days.

Fang is now dead, having passed away of old age underneath a tree in the Farmlands of Baldur's Gate.
Aston Keir, a former student, and Elisuna Di'Makiir, a friend, saw to his cremation.
