An odd visitor to Candlekeep

A short, stocky dwarf cloaked in a hood approaches the Candlekeep gate after nightfall. Upon entering, the gaurds stop him.
Gaurd: "Halt! Remove your hood before entering"
Dwarf: "Me hood?....eh....."
The dwarf slowly takes off his hood to reveal a Duergar from the Underdark! His face is covered in a mass of horrid scars, and his mannerisim is a very timid one. The gaurd tenses up and draws his weapon as he prepares for a battle.
Gaurd: "A Duergar!! What in the nine hells is one of your kind doing here?! WHO ARE YOU!!"
The dwarf backs up a step: "Me....me be Hunar! Me nay here te fight ye!"
Gaurd: "Then what are you here for? I'm not about to let one of your kind pass."
Hunar: "Me here te speak te Valerius."
Gaurd: "Valerius? What do you want with him?"
Hunar: ".........te speak te him"
Gaurd: "Well, he's not here. He left candlekeep on a journey a very long time ago and is no longer the Guide here. Sorry, but your in the wrong place."
Hunar appears crestfallen at this news. His entire body sags as he realizes his journey to the surface was for nothing.
Hunar: "Him....him not here? But.....where he be?!"
Guard, shrugging: "No idea. I told you he left on a journey. He could be gone months, years, or he may never return." the gaurd evidently seems to feel a bit sorry for the Duergar. "If you'd like, you can leave a message here for him in case he comes back."
Hunar hangs his head and is silent for a while: "Aye......ye tells him dat Hunar was here lookin fer him......"
Hunar then turns and walks away from Candlekeep, not even bothering to put his hood up. Once down the path a ways he sits down on the side of the road, depressed and unsure of what to do now. He had risked everything to come all this way to speak with Valerius, and now Valerius is gone. What is he to do now?
Then Hunar's head perks up. "Nay....me nay gonna give up now. Him be up here somewhere, me just has te find him!!" Hunar gets up, a sense of purpose in him once again. Somehow, he'll find Valerius if he has to talk to every person on the surface.
After all, how big could the surface possibly be?
