Origins

Lance Renslin hails from the city of Peltarch in the lands of Narfell, located to the far north-east of Baldur's Gate. He was born to Abram and Mary Renslin in 1318. Both of his parents were faithful to Lathander the Morninglord and raised Lance to be as well. At a young age, Lance was a rather big boy. He was generally the tallest out of the kids his age and had the bigger natural physique. This caught the attention of the local guard captain at the time, Henry Morrens. At the age of 14, his parents met with Henry Morrens and agreed to allow their son to begin training to become a guardsman.

From 1332-1336, Lance trained under the supervision of Henry Morrens and fine tuned himself to be more than a capable fighter. During his time as a guard, he heard a call from Lathander and at this point he left the guard feeling that he had another purpose. Lance pledged himself as a loyal faithful and visited the temple of Lathander seeking training to answer his call. His training as a guardsman gave him an edge when it came to the physical combat training he engaged in while becoming a paladin, although it would be a year until we was achknowledged as being a full paladin.

At this time, a local group known as the Silver Hand was around, doing what they could to help the town of Jiyyd and the city of Peltarch. Further inquiring into the Silver Hand, Lance discovered they were a small group of Paladins who worked together to defeat evil and protect the innocents. He joined with them, fighting alongside two Tormites, Benjamin Krassen and Perphilus Tovanek, and a Tyrian, Greg Smith. For three years, Lance remained with the Silver Hand until one day he approached them and said his goodbyes. He felt his time in Narfell was drawing to an end and that he would be better off seeking a new home. He left Narfell in 1341.

For the past five years, Lance has travelled from Peltarch, Narfell to many lands, travelling down the Black Road until reaching the Trade Way, where he turned south and began a new path until he walked past the great doors of Baldur's Gate. Upon his arrival, he heard civilians talk of an order of paladins in the region, and further inquiries led him to discover there was an order that resided within the city. With this in mind, he sent a letter to the temple of Torm, and awaited a reply.
