The beheaded and burning corpse of a paladin on the ground. Elven writings on the wall. Written in blood. The paladin had been asking too many questions. The job was done.

The four men left the cave, excited and full of doubts. How did Lance know they were looking for him? Did someone know? At least the pay was good. The framing would have not worked, probably, but they didn't care.

They were about to leave when suddenly the one with the tricorn hat saw her: an elf, hiding in the bushes. They had to take a decision, quickly. The man with the tricorn hat stepped forward... and talked to her. The others hesitated for a moment. Then they left, with even more doubts than before.

The tiny elf maid watched from the shadows as the three men gathered in front of the Friendly Arm Inn, then listened as the spoke in hushed tones, regarding a job. What job? She knew not, but she was determined to find out. A man was mentioned...one who wore the vestments of a Morninglord and them wanting to find him. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Dawnmaster Sonlite standing safely by the campfire so she immediately thought of the paladin Lance. Making a quick decision, she made her way south, with the hope of finding the paladin along the way. Lady Goldheart was with her as she ran into Lance on the bridge outside of Beregost. She sung a soft song in draconic, bathing the man in invisibility then lead him to the Temple of Lathander to explain.

River stepped out of the shadows upon entering the temple and warned Lance of what she saw and heard. Since the paladin was unable to just hide in the temple forever, he set out, with River dancing among the shadows again to keep watch. The man she recognized as Basilius approached the paladin, stating the elf Bre was in the Abandoned Mines and was in a bad state, standing over a dead human. Lance sprang to action and went to the mines to investigate; again, with River following him. After a thorough search of the mines, four men approached Lance and attacked him without warning. He was dead in seconds. The tiny elf watched from the shadows as she saw a hooded figure in black walk up and remind the group of the need for the paladin's head. She watched in horror as a masked man chopped off Lance's head with a large axe, then another man she did not know burned the decapitated body with hellfire. Basilius scooped the blood from the head and wrote along the walls in Elven, stating that the humans will never catch him, then signed it with Bre's name.

River looked at the grisly scene before her and made the decision to follow the men to see who was actually behind the murder. She did not get far when Kalma saw her among the shadows. She watched in disappointment as the rest of the group took Lance's head and walked away while Kalma spoke with her. Both the captain and the elf, danced in their conversation until River gave an excuse of needing to assist the halflings within the mine. She took this opportunity to gather some of Lance's ashes and carry them to the Temple of Lathander, hoping that it will be enough to grant a full resurrection.

The priest refused payment as he prayed over the ashes upon the altar. River watched as holy light filled the temple, bathing the priest and altar in holy energy until the figure of a man formed, and Lance breathed the air once again. The bardess filled in the gaps within Lance's memory, then helped him retrieve his armor before washing the bloody message from the wall within the mine, a muttered prayer that no one else saw it upon her lips.

Lance had been on his way north when we was approached by River, who quickly hustled him into the Song of the Morning Temple. Basilius and a few others were looking for a Morninglord she told him.

"I see, though I am no Morninglord, River," Lance replied, furrowing his brows.

He made his way out of the temple, noticing a few figures by the markets who he soon identified amongst them was Basilius. Lance questioned them, Basilius taking the lead saying they were not looking for anything, although Basilius had wanted word with Lance.

"Bre has gone insane again. We saw him in the goblin mines with another corpse."

That line alone had Lance making his way to the goblin caves, slaying all goblins that charged at him. Several other adventurers were in the caverns, all of which he asked them if an elf was here to which the answer was they had not seen one.

He checked all of the rooms, until battling the Soothesayer and becoming weakened due to a firey spell the Soothesayer had cast on him. All at once powerful blasts slammed into the paladin as he yelled in pain before crumbling to the ground.

........

Hours later, the doors of the Song of the Morning temple burst home as a large man clad in silver armor donning a long, golden cloak exited the temple heading north.

Eric Blackblood enters the Friendly Arm Inn, thirstier than ever and with a fresh sack of gold with him. He tosses it to Bentley and drinks faster than ever before, he seems nervous, even more twitchy than before. Mugs of rum, bottles of Neverwinter Mead. He takes a large portion with him when he leaves a thousand gold poorer from the inn, invisible, wandering along the coastline towards the south..

Bre'teas enters the Friendly arm Inn with Vallerie after being asked by her for a drink.

Upon entering he moves to the counter to order Ale being offered a strong drink by Eric but politely says no. An elven woman comes up to him as he moves back and asks him for a word. They are both seen going up the stairs, with Bre'teas coming back shortly after having that drink with Vallerie.

Later,
Lance can be seen talking to Bre'teas asking him to follow a young woman enters the Friendly arm Inn courtyard as well. There is a short discussion between Lance and the woman who asks Bre for a drink after the debate ends.

Bre'teas responds in agreement mentioning he will do so after talking to Lance. Lance and Bre enter the Inn with Lance walking upstairs, while Bre gets the woman a drink. He goes up as well a short while after getting some rest.

After a short while Bre comes back finding Lance at the counter drinking, with the woman sitting in front of the fireplace. Bre orders a drink for himself and takes a seat as well. A hefty discussion ensues between Lance and the woman with Bre listening curiously, leaving with the two shortly after the group heading south.
