Torako Shardless - Still Searching for Her

Unread post by Torako »

"The Dales Lead"
Two Weeks in the Gate:

I have been in Baldur's Gate for a couple of weeks now, and the trail is cold. Perhaps the rumours in the Dales were just that, but the people I spoke to there were very specific. She lives, and she is here, they said. Could it be her? Perhaps. Or perhaps it will be just like the Dales, or Calimport, or Athkatla before that. In any case I have no other leads to follow right now.

I have met some interesting people and kept a keen ear open to rumours, but there is nothing solid yet. The absence of any substantial clues fills me with doubt. In the Dales they spoke of her in the hushed tones that evoke a legend, but here it seems like she does not even exist. Perhaps I have just been talking to the wrong people.

I visited the White Mask Theatre in the Gate for one of their Open Stage Nights. The woman who runs it is a dream, but far removed from the one I seek. I got up on stage, and read my poem. I tried to keep with their "elements" theme, but my meaning is surely clear to the right ears. If there is any truth at all to the rumours in the Dales, then she will probably find me first.

This woman I seek she burns like fire,
Her tongue shoots tongues of silver flame,
Where there’s smoke there’s surely ire,
A burning breeze to fan her fame.

This woman I seek is hard as stone,
Though perhaps less than down-to-earth,
She sits smugly upon her shadow throne,
Taking the Gate for all its worth.

This woman I seek is cold as ice,
Renowned for her freezing stare,
Though she may be anything but nice,
All wanting hearts should still beware.

This woman I seek is fickle as air,
A hurricane wind is about as tame,
And though that breeze has brought me near,
It likewise carried off her name.
I can only pray it's her this time.
