A poster on the School of Mages

Unread post by Eldebryn »

A poster containing the below has been posted on the walls of the school of mages. Behind the words, written in drowish, there is a background depicting a perfect, symmetrical hexagon with each one of it's corners connected to every other with a fine line.

Dear students and fellow arcanists,

I have realized that my absence from Sshamath may have been less than timely in the past months. I also understand that I have been too busy with personal research and various cases regarding the beasts roaming in the nearby tunnels, which has in turn caused the time I spend on school-related affairs and instructing younger wizards to diminish.
Therefore I am announcing a new course of lessons which I will be teaching exclusively, and hopefully for quite some time given enough participants.

*at this point the readers notice a smaller poster next to it, mentioning the course specifications*

[Participants will have the opportunity to gain a great deal of knowledge, primarily, on the nature of the arcane, the fundamental synthesis of a spell and magic in general. History, logic, battle tactics and perhaps even philosophy are subjects that may be approached in some classes as well.]

//Back to main poster
As an exception to this usual policy of the school, this course will be open to drow, half-drow and Deep Imaskari who wish to continue or initiate their studies at this point. Thus, it would be an exceptional opportunity for those that haven't been members of your school to officially become so or, alternatively, establish a certain link to our school in the field of their specialty aiming at recognition and collaboration.

*signed by Eldebryn, Mage of the school of mages*

(( This will be a small RP event which I hope we can have every so and then. I might even give participants a few small rewards for RP and performance in class. Also, members or possible members as well as those who want their PCs to be merely associated(not an actual member, like when you are no wizard or not a drow) with the school of mages can post here, hopefully we will be even able to establish an official presence in the forums.
Please post *IC* on behalf of a character what wishes to participate. Including OOC the character name and info like race/class/concept would be helpful unless you want to hide that information (you can also send me a PM alternatively). Also inform me of your time zone/availability to arrange this. I am usually available everyday 19:00-24:00 and from noun to late night in weekends, GMT+2 .))

An ugly but polite orc with a funy but costly hat brings Eldebryn a message at his lab in the school of mages , the bulky darksteel slave colar around the orc's neck acting as his '' hall pass '', the seal on the letter is from 1st grade student of the School of Mages

the ugly , but clean orc bows , tips hat, bows again and tips hat repetedly walking slowly backward while bowing and scurry off as soon as he's dismissed by the wizard

The hand writing is shaky and unrefined, the message goes as follows ;

Dear Eldebryn ,
Ussa finds comendable you're efforts to educate the socially depraved. I would attend you're class and perhaps help a litle or maybe learn a trick or two as well , perhaps it'll get ust off the hook in some classes ussa been struggling in.

Due to terrible neck pain , ussa been resting a lot in ust's room, rarely leaving Shamath . Dos should send word when dos get the first classes on the way.

sincerly ,

Kar-Myr Dalhadril'mtor

Eldebryn receives the letter in his office and after staring at the orc suspiciously and waiting for it to leave, slowly opens the envelope with a knife. After reading the letter he gazes in space and mutters as he arches his eyebrow "...neck pain...?".

He shakes his head a little and then adopts a thoughtful expression, a little before he writes down a name in a long yet empty scroll.

"Kar-Myr Dalhadril'mtor..." mutters, and then let's out a soft sigh as he looks at the long scroll before wrapping it...

Eldebryn finds another letter awaiting at his office, from the young wizard he met the other day.

"Hmm... That one was interesting...He mentioned being a member of the School of Elemental Magic, though I think his presence could be to my advantage. Yes, that it will..."

The drow nods to himself as he adds another name on the list, with a smirk on his face.

"I wonder what that necromancer is up to... Perhaps I should contact her as well, before Amon notices her or Val'feng decides to appear on Sshamath again..."

He takes hold of his staff, which was leaning on his office next to him, and slowly walks towards the exit.

"I should get around to organizing a class schedule at some point" mutters to himself.

A jalil wearing purple robes is seen often talking to Vaszyne, visiting the school of necromancy or making trips to the crypt. She mostly keeps to herself when not talking with the illythiiri necromancers but does engage in conversations if asked.

For those that may keep an eye on her, they notice this routine is rather normal for her, though they would also notice that she does something a bit off of that routine this cycle, as she is seen entering the school of mages...

Eldebryn meets the female in the hallway, on his way out of the school, recognising the figure, he nods and gestures towards his office as he guides her there, walking with his staff as always.
"I did not expect to see you here, I am honoured you came here in person" he says as he sits on his chair, gesturing to her to do the same on the other side of the desk.
"I believe you want me to sign you up for the course? It is a fine opportunity for any individual who wishes to offer or receive knowledge, or perhaps even become a part of our community, through this interaction."

A tall, striking-looking, male enters the School of Mages, and quietly asks after the author of a posting he has come across in the city. His clothes though well-made are simple and seem subdued by design as the eyes of those he meets are invariably drawn to his fine features and noble bearing. His tone and address are soft and polite yet to those he addresses his words are charged with power.

When informed by an apprentice that Eldebryn is away, he gives the the boy a small card to hand to his master. Upon closer inspection the apprentice can just make out the faint outline of a rune on the card.

Greetings and salutations, Master Eldebryn.

I am new to Sshamath, and while not a mage exactly, I am a practitioner of arcane magic and would be interested in sitting in on some of your seminars. If you are amenable to such a scheme then I shall return to the school at a more propitious time to discuss the matter with you.

Regards,

Guilhem

Walking past the School of Mages on a routine patrol of the Conclave. . .Kilrahel notices the posting and makes note of it. Scribing the details in his journal. Noding approvingly with a bit of a proud smirk...The Senior Ranking Sargtlin of the Charnag Maethra goes about his buisness with pragmatic hopes to find a few skilled Faern to strengthen the ranks.

Perhaps he will offer his hand in The Art to this Seminar to see the young and ambitious Jaluken tested with full measure...

Eldebryn is about to enter the school as he notices the purple stamp on the poster.

"Hmm... That's good. I am relieved they don't follow a 'payback' scenario over me turning down their offer to join the Charnag" he thinks.

"Or perhaps they are just being diplomatic. I need to make sure I don't offer them any openings"
He exits the teleporter to the hall and heads towards his office.

There he finds Guilhem's message, which he reads as he comfortably sits in his chair. His card intrigues the the wizard upon examination, who recalls that wizards are the only arcanists known to commonly adopt such sigils.
After he adds his name to the list of registered students, he begins writing a short answer, mentioning how he can be often found in the school or at the Gloura's Wings, as well as that his presence and participation will be welcomed.

Another poster makes its appearance on the wall of the School, declaring the date and time of the 1st class. It is recommended that any participants are in the classroom (first one to your left) a few minutes prior to the beginning of the lesson.

// I have been thinking about Saturday the 20th, as for time I would rather we start at about 20:00 or 21:00 pm UTC

//If the time and/or date is not an option for *any* person who wants to be there, please send me a PM and I will see what I can do, always keep an eye on this topic for updates and don't hesitate to PM me.

//If you have any ideas/suggestions about what I should include in the class feel free to PM me about that as well, those messages can be IC or OOC, though Eldebryn never asked for such guidance IC. Your opinion will be taken into account. Hope we will all have fun ;)

// i'll be there , saw your post after we talked IG .. obviously.
School of mage ( 3:00 pm (Utc -5, canada -est)) , next saturday .

a simple note sliped under Elde's lab door : '' i'll be there '' - Kar

Kar has been but a shadow in the school as of late , rumor has it she found a crypt in the depths of Shaamath and never leaves it , barely eats , drink or sleep ... the few times she was spoted in class or in the bazaar , she was evasive, looked skinny , her eyes redish and hollow , her hair a mess and her hands shacky. A strange but pleasing odor emanating from her .

(( IG craft alchemy or wis DC 15 , or whatever appropriate skill set or char's back ground to notice shes using , a lot , the smell is of Mordayn Vapor also known as Dreamist , a powerfull and highly addictive hallucinogen. Her eyes and small self inflicted cuttings on her forearms betrays the use of Luhix, an extreme pain killer from the abyss ))

A letter is left sitting prominently on Master Eldebryns desk.

"Master Faern

My brother Drejantril has expressed his wish to participate in dos teachings and I have condoned this request. He is a fast learner and as his name implies he is fond of cold magic. I have instructed his brood to deliver this message, I hope she was polite about it.

By my hand

Ardulafae Oreb'le'i"

*below in another not quite so neat hand*
"PS. The noises from dos closet most likely has something to do with an apprentice of dos who stuck his nose and hands where they didnt belong at the time.

Kisses N."
"Drojal zhah obdoluth dorb'd streeak, Lueth dro zhah zhaunau dorb'd ogglin."
"Existence is empty without chaos, Life is boring without enemies." So sayeth Lady Lolth, Queen of Chaos.

PC: Natalya, wandering enchantress.

Eldebryn enters his office in a hurry, the classes start today, and he has little time to prepare any final details and he must be swift about it. Wizards and sorcerers will be there, he thinks, and he starts taking a few notes on a piece of papers when he suddenly notices two more letters on his desk.

First he unrolls Inthuusol's letter, confirming he will attend the first class.
"Well, he better not be late" thinks, and places the message in a drawer along with those of the other participants.

Then he opens the other letter. He writes down the name "Drejantril" on his list, pondering for a moment why his sister wrote this letter for him. Upon deciding it was of no matter, he was going to put the letter away when he read the last part...

A frown formed on his face, coupled with an expression of wonder. He read it again twice thinking what the meaning was and then stared on the signature looking deeply skeptical...
"Kisses.... N. ...?"

The wizard places this letter in a different drawers and leans against the back of his chair, sinking deep in his thoughts...
