History:
Mendlin was born in the world of Middle-Earth. He was born the son of a half-celestial and the human (Edain) woman named Faelivrin. She was considered and elf-friend as she was orphaned herself and raised in the elven society of the Grey Havens. It was there that she built a relationship with the mysterious figure Silantilláurë. He passed as human, but in reality he was much more. He was the offspring of the union between a Maia servant of Ossë and a Telerin half-elven woman of the Grey Havens. It was this man, Silantilláurë, who became the father of Ciryatán Mendũillë¬n. Mendlin, as he was called by his family and friends, quickly mastered the arcane arts of elemental control, especially of water and air. He also caught on quickly how to manipulate magic and shape it to his will, what is now known as metamagic. Mendlin served aboard several sea-going vessels and spent much of his early life at sea. A ring of shape-change was given to him when he was young by his father and he would often change into the form of a dolphin and swim for days or take the form of a seagull and fly over the sea. He eventually remained on land and studied intensely under the tutelage of his father and became a powerful arcanist. Many years passed, ages of men, and a powerful figure appeared. No one saw him, but his presence was felt and his aura was that of fear and death. Mendlin’s father disappeared and his mother urged him to leave the Grey Havens, to leave because he was not safe if he stayed in one place long. So Mendlin departed the Grey Havens and traveled east. For many years he traveled, and he became known as Mendlin the Wanderer. He never stayed in one place long, until he met his friends Luke, Terminus, Czar, Flynn, Zrod, Azul and Bunko. It was with this group, and a few others, that Mendlin had found his home and he had many adventures with them. Their adventures took them all over the world, into the depths of the Sea through the nearly abandoned caverns of the once majestic halls of Angband, and into the heavenly realms to fight Chaos demons.
It was during an encounter against their fallen comrade Czar, a powerful Noldo/Drow wizard, who had allied himself with the demon spider queen Lloth that the group of adventurers found themselves relocated to the world of Faerun. Mendlin believes it was either his father, Silantilláurë, who planar teleported the group to Faerun or the deity Lloth. If it was Lloth, Mendlin does not understand why she didn’t just kill them all rather than teleport. Mendlin has since separated from his friends and begun his travels, keeping true to his namesake, the Wanderer.
After several years of wandering, Mendlin made his way to Baldur’s Gate where he encountered his old friend Luke once again, the Paladin of Lathander. Mendlin has decided to settle down in this area along the Sword Coast, perhaps for a just a short while. He has access to the ocean and desires greatly to live on the shore enjoying the quiet power potent of the Ocean and the Lord of Water, Istishia.
