Background:
Meli was raised by her aged grandmother, Maynin Forrester, in the High Forest, away from civilization and most people. She learned from an early age about her fey heritage and warlock powers, as they were both brought about by her grandmother's actions. Maynin had been a young ranger when she was approached by a satyr. He presented himself as the leader of a fey cult dedicated to Mielikki, her own goddess, and to protecting wild places in her name. He said Mielikki came to him in a dream and told him to seek Maynin out and offer her a warlock's pact to counter the influence of darker fey and other threats to the wild. He stayed with her as she learned about these powers and they fell in love.

Maynin trained and taught Meli as best as she could. Hoping that the child's wild heritage and natural powers wouldn't overcome her better judgement. She taught her respect for the forest, love for all nature and life and an abiding faith in Mielikki. She never explained where her grandfather was or what really happened to her parents, although she was told the stories of their and Maynin's adventures. Some nights, however, she would wake from terrible dreams where she could here her parents calling her but couldn't find them or she would she her father drifting off into darkness, reaching out for her but unable to make a sound. These nightmares still occasionally cause her some difficulty.

Eventually, and even with the aging Maynin's blessing, Meli was struck by a very predictable wanderlust and left the High Forest in search of her own adventure. Maynin warned her, gave her gifts and told her she could always come home if she needed but otherwise she was proud of the young girl Meli had become and didn't hold her back. What Meli didn't tell her grandmother was that she was heading straight to Baulder's Gate and the Sword Coast to try and find any evidence of her parent's demise.


Goals: Protect surrounding woodlands and wild places, attempt to make friendly contact with the local fey, learn about her powers, help the people along the Sword Coast, have fun, FIND OUT FATE OF PARENTS

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Meli was told her father and mother were killed by an unknown group or assailant shortly after her sixth birthday. Her grandmother rarely talks about her warlock son, Meli's father, Corthanus, or what happened to him and his wife, Heralenae the Harper from Amn, other than they were killed while adventuring along the Sword Coast with the rest of their old party: Dalteran Taldan, a fighter and professional soldier from Baulder's Gate; Filnigius Hopllestuck, a gnome illusionist and alchemist from Candlekeep; Druk, a half-orc monk of Ilmater from the Yellow Rose Monastery; and Alexis Silverbow, a cleric of Selune from Silverymoon.

Maynin spoke fondly of her satyr lover, Jexir. She obviously still loves him a great deal but she told Meli that had returned to his people.
