Background
As a child the shielddwarf Dalin Thunderaxe was always hotheaded, he would get into fights over anything with anyone much to the dismay of his father Balagar who was one of the kings Dwarven Defenders.
Over the years Balagar tried to teach Dalin to hold back his rage, plant his feet solidly in the ground, take a deep breath and think things through before acting, his efforts were eventually met with some success and he eventually managed to train his son as a future Dwarven Defender of the halls.
7 years later Dalin had become a valued defender of the dwarven city of Kharag Tall, his feet planted solidly in the ground alongside other dwarven defenders had formed a shieldwall that had repelled hordes of goblins, orcs and other unwelcome intruders over the years.
It was after such an event Dalin had headed to the inn, after some heavy drinking he overheard a dwarf he had never seen before making some condescending remarks about his familyname. The dwarven ale having had its' effect on him and his familyname insulted made him loose control and he flung into a full fledged frenzy resulting in a fistfight which ended with the other dwarf lying dead on the floor.
The other dwarf turned out to be a distant cousin of the king and as a result of killing him Dalin was banished from the dwarven halls, never to return under penalty of death. Having failed his family, friends and king, now banished from the dwarven halls, Dalin took the slayeroath:
"I am a dwarf, my honor is my life and without it I am nothing. I shall become a Slayer, I shall seek redemption in the eyes of my ancestors. I shall become as death to my enemies untill I face he that takes my life and my shame"
Upon the completion of the oath he had been stripped down, forced on his knees, his hair was cut into a mohawk by a priestess, after which he was whipped, his hair was dyed orange, then greased, after which he left the hall in silence never to return.
He had walked the sword coast for the past 1, maybe 2 years, now carrying a greataxe, before he had finally come across another Slayer by the name of Starkad, this Slayer had gathered a group around him of other slayers and for the first time in years Dalin Thunderaxe felt like he belonged.
Goals:
To fulfill his slayeroath and die in a fair, glorious battle.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Dalin is always in search of a better greataxe, so perhaps a quest for the "Axe Of The Bear-King"

That's a good start but it is missing some of the things from the template: http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=18751
