First and Last Name: Hobin Roed

Appearance:
Race: Human
Age: 27
Height 6 foot 2 inches
Weight: 175 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brown-black
Facial Hair Style: stubble

Personality Profile:
General Health: Excellent health. Thin and muscular—a combination from living a simple and rough existence solely within the forests of the Sword Coast.
Deity: Chauntea
Initial Alignment: Chaotic Good
Profession: Living outside the King's laws, all around rable-rouser and prankster
Base Class & Proposed Development: Ranger / Fighter / Tempest
Habits/Hobbies: Fond of jokes and laughter, Hobin likes to taunt and cajole everyone around him. But when the going gets rough, he turns serious and dedicated to the task at hand. Hobin has a habit of staring into the woods in deep thought, as if voices of the wood speak to him and dwells long on their message...
Languages: Common, Elven and Undercommon
Weapon of Choice: Longsword and Longbow

Background:
Hobin was orphaned as a wee babe, taken in by a miller and wife, who also had a slightly younger son of their own. Growing up in a small village, Hobin learned the plight of the peasant worker, who toils in labor day after day to produce a meager existence while simultaneously being taxed and often abused by the local constabulary. This left a deep mark on his psyche, to distrust those who abuse power in order to feed upon the simply folk for personal gain and often a spoiled existence.

The village he lived in was located near the edge of Cloakwood forest, and while dangerous and often spoken ill of by the villagers themselves, Hobin as a young boy often ventured with his half-brother into it's deeper reaches, hunting and exploring as all young boys do to establish a sense of manhood. Hobin learned quickly how to live solely on the land, within the woods and developed keen skills as a tracker and bowman.

Goals:
The villages that surround the Cloakwood—and the poorer people of the lands on the Sword Coast—do struggle to survive on a daily basis. If it isn't defending themselves from raids by mind-plagued fey, wicked lizardfolk or rampaging undead, it is the Duke himself and the high taxes that causes extra struggle to those who already have so very little, and that only seek to live rich in community and worship. Hobin would see that the simple folk of the Sword Coast are protected from these hardships any way he can, be it by returning wealth to the simple people from those that have gained it unfairly, or by clearing the lands of wanton evil.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
Hobin does not believe that wealth is distributed evenly amongst the people of the Sword Coast. He has no love for the laws of the Duke, nor for any person with single-minded conviction. He believes that people (humans, elves, dwarves, etc.) are naturally good, but that seeking power and wealth, for and of itself, brings greed and suffering to all.

Hobin is quite proud of his skills as a bowman and with the sword, and will challenge others to playful duels or games of marksmanship. He relishes making fools of those that think too highly of themselves.

He will aid the poor and needy in almost all circumstances...but is wary enough to always make sure he is not being tricked into causing another undeserved harm through his actions.
As J.G. Ballard has said, "It's a mistake to hold back and refuse to accept one's own nature."
