It all started when he was ten his father had been recruited for the war and had been gone for two years. His mother and his twin sister had been left with taking care of the farm. Ashard had been out feed the chickens, When he saw a man coming do the dirt road. Ashard at once recognized the infantry armor he was wearing and rushed off to meet his father. As he grow nearer he stopped the man was not his father but an army runner. The man nodded as tho to acknowledge him, he had a grim look on his face. "Hello" replied Ashard. "Have you news of my father?"said Ashard. He watched as the man reached for something on his back. When he brought his arm back he presented Ashard with a dagger with his family crest on it. "I'm sorry" the man said in a ruff low voice. Ashard stood there without moving as the man handed him the dagger and turned to walk a way.
Mean while from the barn Ashard's mother and sister saw the man on the road just as he was walking away. They came out and walked over to Ashard. "Ashard be he have any news about your father" his mother asked. Ashard still in shock turned to his mother without saying a word. His mother noticed the dagger in his hand as did his sister. "That's father dagger" said Morgan his sister. "Mother why did that man have fathers dagger" Morgan said. As she looked to her mother for a reply so could she the tears in her mother's eyes. And then she know her father would never be coming home.
