Here is a poll covering the options put forward in this post.
http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=20385

You can choose two options and can recast your votes if you change your mind.

I vote for someone less lazy than me to post a summary of the 6 pages linked in the poll..

It would be more useful to me to know how long people would like PVP consent to last.

The "PVP OK" toggle won't cover everyone, since not everyone will click it. We'll still have to worry about the rules when it comes to people who don't toggle the button.

I voted 24 hours game time, and "Leave the area".. Leaning towards "Leave the area" due to certain points raised by Mister Rogers in the thread.

It's just an option for those that seek/desire/pray for PvP with their toon. Whether or not you completely hide your status, there will always be certain PvP rules to follow, because no matter what rules we change, it isn't a good idea to NOT allow anyone to just randomly attack other toons without some sort of RP-based reason.

If you're a drow war party on the surface, that IS an RP-based reason to attack anyone you come across. That just makes sense. But, just walking up to the campfire and stabbing someone makes no sense...however, going up to the campfire and challenging someone to a duel does (knowing they have clicked on PvP consent). Or, if your toons' have a history of hostility, then it makes sense.

I'd just like to point out 2 things: most people interested in PvP are dedicated and seemingly responsible players, so I have faith things would be worked out very well. The second is: it seems many players have voted for it already...so maybe the idea has some merit?!?

Sure, it has merit. It's just not necessary. If we only want to give people the option, they already have ways to waive PvP consent. Join the PvP Club, or mark their status in the DMFI Locator Widget.

Given the things we're throwing at the dev team already, I don't want to take up their time with something that can already be done by other means.

I had no idea the PvP Club existed for the first 4 months I started playing BG.

Also, some day you might not be in the mood for PvP action. How can you remove yourself from the club?

I'd say the club listing makes a toggle button unnecessary...but only if there is an updated alphabetical list...it's pretty long with individual posts. Just saying...

But thanks for being on this Rogers!

We can use the scry tool now to say 'PvP ok' in the status section.

I think a PvP toggle would be more like a d-bag beacon than anything, personally. :D

But it probably would have its uses.

The golden rule of the forums - the opinions of the outspoken, is not necessarily the opinion of the masses

Anyways - I think the current rule for consent works perfectly well. I do however think that adding a PvP toggle button would make it easier for those interested in PvP.

The Scry is an amazing tool, I'm surprised by all the changes you can make. Hide your level and area, while still showing your name etc. - so there's no one who can meta game where you are or what level you're at around.

You also must realize that data can be interpreted with bias of the viewer. Sure, 16 think no change is best - but 20 think that some change is needed, they just don't agree on the exact change. If any of you have been involved in a charter comission to change local gov't, you don't ask 'stay the same or one of these 4 options' you decide on the change option and THEN have the city vote on 'status quo vs Change X'.

/t "Player X" Your in character actions have greatly upsetted my gnome wizard. Thus I would ask for a consent for PvP, however, since I do not know when our characters will meet in character for the next time, I'd like the consent to stay up for one real week. If it is agreeable, say yes, if it is not, say no. Or if you have better suggestion, speak your mind. There are no hard feelings from me.

The current PvP rules allow me to send tells like the one above. I can negotiate, I am content.
