Background: Bargrim is a descendant of Clan Belroun of fallen (during this time period) Citadel Felbarr, one of the last and loyalist of clans that stayed until 1054DR when Felbarr was no more:
"Since the year -1900 DR, the year of when it was completed, Citadel Felbarr stood as one of the grand jewels of mighty dwarf empire of Delzoun. However when the clans of fellow underground shield dwarf empire Ammarindar immigrated to Myth Drannor at the fall of their kingdom to demons. Most of the clans of already weakening citadel, it's mined out ore veins and Delzoun empire joined this retreat at 273 DR, leaving Felbarr to crumble and vulnerable to raiding monsters and orcs. Few clans loyally stayed behind and stood proudly against the constant orc attacks and sieges. One of these clans was Clan Belroun. Long did they hold fast in their mountain fortress with other clans, ever bitter of most clans decision of leave to Cormanthor woods. To them it was not an option to leave their beloved and proud home behind. But the ore veins kept running thin and more dwarves were killed by hostiles behind the protecting and proud Runegate.

Most of the clans were leaving or had done so years ago, until the time when Clan Belroun was alone. When its elders deceased and more and more warriors fell, it came a time for the loyal dwarves to make the bitter decision. Either stay and defend the fortress to their end or leave as others had done. Bitter looks on all faces and sad song were sang that day when they packed everything they could carry with them at the day of abandoning. The Runegate was sealed and what remain behind now laid in the dark for anyone fast enough to take. In 1054 DR the already shattered clan spread across the north, some taking refuge in the north inside the mighty halls of Adbar, some to Ironmaster, some made their way to Spine of the World, and some spread in cities and communities all around the Siver Marches and the North. Most of the dispersed took new clan names as they parted. To this day only memory of the clan’s glory remains, and stories survive in the long and loyal minds of its members. Where ever all of them are now they still remember their lineage. Its members are proud to call themselves the clan that stood last to the end of what now is the Citadel of Many-Arrows, bastion of orc-kind. Only a few of them live today and still remembers that bitter time. Rest assured however, that the offspring of this clan knows of their legacy. Delzoun ultimately fell, but the dwarves didn't."
"Bargrim was born to traditional and well enstablished armorsmith and warrior clan of dwarves called Clan Flamehammer inside the halls of Adbar. During his early age he stayed home in the care of his mother, who nursed him until he was aged enough to starts his studies and school, as any decent dwarf would. His father was a warrior among the ranks of Ironguard and often spent most time on the battlements on the surface walls of the citadel, or in other duties. The father and son rearly spent too much time togheter, and some might call the releationship between the two distant, but still caring. As more of a fatherfigure to him was his grandfather, an elder he respected higherly. He often could listen to his elders stories for hours. He told him stories of his youth and their original heritage and home of Felbarr, and the bitter end of that fortress. As Bargrim grew up he started to learn the trade of smith, as was custom among his family. Everyone at least knew how to repair a broken breatplate or fix other armor parts.

Emberbeard did well and adapted the skills quickly enough, but it was clear from the beginning that it was not his way. He then followed his fathers footsteps and begin the training to join the Ironguard. By that time he had already learned use of weaponry and was confortable in any suit of armor. He had always been in excellent shape, and extremely sturdy even for a stout. Years rolled past and Bargrim settled right in the ranks of the guards. In his time he saw more than enough action in the patrols outside the walls and on them. He first started to count the orclifes he took, but decided along the years to stop as they became too numerous, as did his fellow warriors lifes he saw taken by the orckin. He kept climbing among the ranks, gaining respect enough from his brothers and one time even took and arrow that was ment for Captain Druggath himself., a deed that impressed the commander deeply. Later on he got stationed below the ground to the Caravan Doors, the gates of Fardrimm. He saw much less action here than he did on the surface, a change he did not know to like or hate. A few times he escorted caravans to Sundabar and other places among with members of the Deepscouts and nurmerous warriors. This was the trips where he saw and got to know the other races more, particulary humans. The years kept rolling on and time came that his duty caught the eye of Throm Forkbeard, commander of the King's Guard and in need of new addition to this prestigious group. Bargrim accpeted without doubt and was indeed made one the numerous personal guard of Harbromm himself, as a token he was given the seal ring of Adbar, a ring he swore never to remove or misplace. This was a bright surpise for his father who had lost his arm in a orcskirmish and was forced to retire.

The newly appointet member of king's guard had one last assigment within the Fardrimm. He was to personally see certain trade documents reach Sundabar, a journey through the ungerground tunnels most dangerous, even still it was considered safer than using the surface to travel in this city. But so it approved that they were ambushed by a group drow raiders. All were killed expect Bargrim and a few other dwarves, who were taken prisoners. Bargrim thought this his end and at times as he lay blind-folded on the floor of a unknown cavern he prayed to All-Father for swift dwath in the hands of this monsters. The next days moved slowly and always they were blinded. At one point he remembers taking a deep breath outside the caverns and smelling the fresh air. The next few days are the most confusing of his entire life, a part he has never spoken yet with anyone else. They were given some kind of poison constantly that made them loose their consiusness, he never was quite sure enough. The next thing he remembers is a group of patrolling Waterdhavian guards. They rescued him from a local group of bandits. The shocked and furious dwarf was escorted to the City of Splendor, where he took rest in a cheap tavern. Finally he mustered his courage and took his leave in the metropolis. There he wandered lost towards South and finally arrived at gates of Baldur's Gate."

Goals: Bargrims top goal is to risk the long journey and return home to Citadel Adbar, but has yet to muster a will or funds for such a perilous and long journey. Instead he has spent time working for gold and with his other dwarven kin he has met along the coast.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Bargrim can be stubborn, gruff and sometimes even insulting. This however is only with other races and in the company of other stouts he seem a bit more off guard. He is extremly loyal and keeps his word, like most dwarves do.
