Ivy Vain -Waiting on Backstory

Unread post by Ivy Vain »

Template For Character Creation Reward:

First Name: Ivy
Last Name: Vain

Appearance: Ivy is of average beauty. There is nothing striking about her looks. She may be considered pretty by some, but not breathtaking. She is tall with an athletic build, but she has still retained her womanly assets. Her bodily tone appears soft and smooth, not ripped and muscular.
Race: Drow
Age: 225 (I thought this age sounded around 30 or so in human years)
Height: Ivy is tall for a Drow female. (I'm not sure how to express this with a value. I made her as tall as possible during character creation)
Weight: ???
Eyes: White
Hair: White
Facial Hair Style: NA

Personality Profile: Ivy has an attitude much like that of a pirate loyal to some cause. She cares little about the respect and caste driven society of the Drow, but she abides by it and knows better than to fight against it. She inwardly despises being called Jabbress, but she's intelligent enough to know that she can use male respect to her advantage...she will do so only if she feels it is "somewhat" justified, though "somewhat justified" sometimes becomes whatever she feels she wants.

Ivy has a lust for treasure and gold. She cares much more about obtaining treasures and gold than earning any amount of respect, and to that end she considers all companions she is traveling with to be equals...comrades. However, Ivy DOES have a greedy streak, she chooses to hide it by trying to obtain as many treasures alone as possible. She calls this greedy solo treasure hunting "Personal Business". When she is traveling with others, she takes a more honorable approach to loot dispersal.

Ivy follows her own code of honor. She likes to earn what she recieves and considers common cutpurses and burglars well beneath her station. Ivy would have no problem plundering an artifact from an old tomb, but she would never lift an item off of someone or from someone's home. She would never steal an item from a merchant. She considers Assassins to be even lower than cutpurses and burglars, as they lack the strength to face their opponents and instead choose to completely erase unaware targets with a knife in the back. Yet, Ivy remains tactful and savvy, although she secretly distrusts and despises cutpurses, burglars, and assassins, she avoids giving them cause to choose her as their next target. When all is said and done, Ivy understands how useful such filth can be to Drow power, but she is not one of them.

General Health: Ivy is a very healthy and robust female. She prides herself on being able to survive in just about any situation.
Deity: Grumbar *OK...umm the selection I was given after taking ranger wasn't very extensive and makes little sense to me. I haven't attempted to use the God chooser in game, but if I can change this to a God that makes more sense or even remove Grumbar as my deity, I will.*
Initial Alignment: Lawful Neutral. Even though Ivy doesn't agree with respect driven society of the Drow, she believes in order and loyalty to her race. She is neutral because she isn't biased necessarily by what is right and wrong, but by what is positive for the Drow and her money pouch.
Profession: Ivy considers herself a Treasure Hunter. Though she does so mostly for her own gain for now. She isn't confident enough in her abilities to carry out contracts for those who might pay her for such a skill, but eventually she hopes to.

Secretly, Ivy also aspires to be a Bounty Hunter. *I don't know how feasible this is, as Bounty Hunters typically capture their targets ALIVE and bring them back to someone else*

Base Class & Proposed Development: Base is Rogue for overall skills. Monk for defense and offense. Ranger for good skill points in addition to offense and track/survivability. I'm going to choose a prestige class to increase Ivy's offensive capabilities.
Habits/Hobbies: Ivy spends most of her time thinking about how she can get her hands on something, be it gold, an item, or a person. And then, of course, she goes out to get them. Ivy is a collector of powerful weaponry. If she deems a weapon worthy of her collection, she may keep it indefinitely...otherwise she finds some way to turn it into coin. Ivy is also fond of drink. Rarely does she imbibe to the point of being drunk, but Ivy never goes on an adventure without a few bottles of the good stuff.
Languages: Drow, Sylvan, Gnome, Dragonkin(I think)
Weapon of Choice: Ivy is surprisingly proficient with many different types of weaponry, including her fists. As an aspiring Bounty Hunter, Ivy eventually wants to be able to use all weapons so that she has the right tool on hand for any job. Still, if she had to choose a favorite weapon, it would be the spear. In her eyes there is no melee weapon that distinguishes one as a hunter more so than the almighty spear. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, the right tool for the job is the right tool for the job, and you won't see Ivy wielding a spear if it won't get the job done.

Background:I'm at a loss as to what to put here. I guess she has no background. It seems as though there is a lot to Drow society and some things would be believable and others not, and I admittedly would have to do some DnD Drow homework that I just haven't gotten around to doing yet. So at the risk of saying something stupid, I'm just going to leave this blank for now. One thing of note though, is her name. It is not a Drow name by any standard, and how she came to go by Ivy Vain is a mystery (obviously, since I lack a background explaining it hehe). Hopefully I can figure out some way to explain it in the future.

Goals: As mentioned, Ivy considers herself a treasure hunter, secretly she aspires to be a bounty hunter as well. Ultimately, though, Ivy wants to see the Drow race dominate all others. Ivy is neutral, so she doesn't necessarily hate surface dwellers, she is simply driven by her own wants and desires. Having the Drow be on top of the food chain is desirable to her. Though she won't pledge allegiance to any of the ruling factions of the Drow, she will do anything to further the power of the Drow people as a whole....for the right amount of coin that is... Ivy feels that remaining neutral allows her to choose what actions she feels are most effective without being handcuffed by political views and ridiculous obligations. Though she is easygoing and diplomatic towards other races, Ivy is fiercely loyal to her own race.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Eventually I want Ivy to be able to be approached and carry out missions for whatever Drow faction hires her. Say the conclave needs someone or some artifact recovered, perhaps they could secretly hire Ivy to accompany/lead(if she is capable) the team chosen to go and retrieve it.

An interesting fact about Ivy is that she has incredibly long fingers and somewhat manly hands. They aren't readily noticable because she keeps them covered with gloves, however, she is not ashamed of them. She'll take her gloves off without a hitch under circumstances that would require it. In fact, instead of being ashamed of them, she is quite in awe of her hands and takes delight with an inner satisfaction when others are taken aback at the sight of them. What would the world be like without the incredible hand? The brain, for all it's power, can build nothing without the hand. Hands: the great manipulators. Where would civilization be if we had hoofs instead of hands? Indeed, where would the world be without Ivy?

Waiting for a basic background. You don't have to be deep in details.. just a basic outline is fine.
