This day I have taken up my quill to this journal to tell my tale. I am Tara Rahn, sister of the Ranger of Mielikki Hans Friederick Rahn. I am a fighter and a priestess of Lathander. Until recently I have only been a sellsword. However with the troubles I've seen developing in the lands that stradle the Trade Way north of the Kingdom of Amn. I think that we of the Sword Coast should look closely into the origins of these troubles before we rush into war between a small city-state like Baldur's Gate and a larger nation-state like Amn.

I worry mostly for the people of the smaller towns and villages that dot the lands between Baldur's Gate and Amn. I grew up in Beregost and was schooled at the Temple of Lathander there where as a young adult served as a soldier in their Templar Guard. Now I am a Dawnsinger or a priestess of Lathander and still am a fighter in his service.

If asked to defend my town and my faith I will rise up and offer my sword and shield to the service of a just cause. I will not march off only half informed and without knowing the full truth of that cause.

Just so you know over eighteen years ago I was born to a couple that owned a small farm outside Beregost. I grew up helping my brother help our parents. Once I was at services in the temple of Lathander when I strayed from my parents and found the training hall of the Templar Guard. I watched their warriors pacticing with weapons. I asked if I could try the archery and sword targets. I found my first vocation.

I served the Templar Guard of Lathander's temple in Beregost, the Song of the Morning. After I served four seasons as a soldier in the Templar Gaurd I took up adventuring and became a priestess or Dawnsinger of Lathander. For the past eight seasons I've been a Dawnsinger and of those five have been spent as a Squire of the Order of the Silver Rose a Knightly order dedicated to protecting the good and the innocent. The Order of the Silver Rose is headquartered in Neverwinter. I serve in the local Company of this Order.

I currently live with my sister-in-law the Moon Elven Ranger-Bard of Eilistraee Nedylene Rahn and my brother on the family's farm or in rooms at the Friendly Arm Inn when I am on my duties as a Squire of the Order of the Silver Rose. Let us talk bluntly now, I am not a Paladin thus I am not strongly held to their oaths and codes. I do follow the faith of my father and mother and its tenants and dogma though at times I find it useful to bend or in some cases break the law in order to ensure the greater good. Currently I patrol the Trade Way protecting those peasant and yoeman farmers that live near it from foul creatures and men. My patrols take me from the farmlands outside Baldur's Gate the port city my home town of Beregost pay alliegence and homage to down to the very gates of Amn at the outskirts of Naskell the mining town in the Cloud Peak Mountains south of Beregost.

In the service of the Silver Rose I have fought from the Trade Way west to the coast along the Sea of Swords. Most of these battles have been in the Cloak Woods some have been in the canyons east of the Trade Way and south of Beregost and in the Woods of Sharp Teeth east of the Friendly Arm Inn. I have fought Orcs, Lizardlings, Kobolds, Bladelings, Goblins, Wyverns, Xvarts, Hill Giants, Efreits, Ogres and dangerous animals and animated plants.

Currently my brother and I are seeking to raise our family from the Gentry to become lessor nobility. My brother seeks his route by serving Baldur's Gate as a Ranger/ Scout in the Flaming Fist and I through my service for the greater good within the Silver Rose. I don't seek the increase in station for its own sake, but so that I can better be able to aid those in need and to lend the strength of a noble's power to aid in protecting the innocent and poor.
