Luthor shaves his head and facial hair as a symbol of priestly piety and keeps himself about as clean as the average adventurer. His eyes are coloured black and his hair colour is dark brown. A large scar can be seen trailing down the right side of his head and the pointed part of his ear on that side of his face looks to have been severed from a terrible blow from a weapon or some such.
Luthor’s face is swollen perpetually into a grimace, with his brows knotting together in the middle of his forehead. His facial features are aquiline and noble, but dour and sparse at the same time.

He is stern and unyielding towards evil doers and is dutifully bound to protect and help those weaker than himself or those being persecuted by evil forces. His faith in Helm is absolute to the point where if Helm told him he could shatter the wall of a castle with a blow from his war mace, he would believe it.
He could be described as having a stone heart and mind that rarely appears attractive to others, and certainly not the opposite sex, if a woman were to look upon him once; she would not look a second time.
General Health: Luthor is very hale and healthy, and is extremely resilient (although not immune) to disease and poisons. He is also resilient against the effects of negative energy, although not immune.

- Always looks others in the eyes when he speaks.
- Refers to his fellow mortals as ‘brother’ or ‘sister.’
Languages: Common, Orc (He was taught Orcish at Helm’s Stronghold.)
Weapon of Choice: Warmace.
Background:
As an infant youth, Luthor was left at the gates of a Helmite Stronghold on the frontiers of civilisation near Darkhold; where the presence of the Helmite Clergy is strong and they keep the Zhentarium from spilling out into the lands. It was dark and stormy night and thus the infant was taken in by the Paladins and Clerics of the hold to be raised in a pious and honourable fashion.
The child was formerly named Luthor. As a youth he floundered in academic training and proved to lack the coordination to make a fine swordsman, he was however always hearty and extremely strong limbed, and his serious mind was set upon becoming a Paladin of Helm so much so that it became his driving obsession. He lacked the formal training however and one other vital component – the divine calling. Although Luthor was wholly devoted to the doctrines and the teachings of the Vigilant One, he never received the divine calling and fell into depression and despair, believing himself unworthy as a follower of Helm. It was at this time that the youth had turned 15, where most Paladins begin their training at around about nine years of age. Luthor grew angry and would lash out at others, and although he was never a mean spirited child, the Clergy knew this to be true and chalked it up as teenage angst.
Around the time when the militant Helmites gave up on young Luthor ever becoming a Paladin, the stronghold was attacked by a small army of Goblinoids under the employ of the Zhentarium. The raiders were led by a fierce Minotaur named Ghaive Bloodtooth, who was said to devour his foes after besting them in battle to gain their strength and imprison their spirits.
The raid on the stronghold came quickly and unexpectedly, and took its toll on the Helmite defenders; however it was doomed to fail due to Ghaive’s forces being spread too thinly across many Helmite targets in the area. During the battle, Luthor, at a mere 15 years of age took up a large maul from the armoury and fought beside the Helmite defenders, all the while bellowing warcries and cries of absolution for his foes as they were slain, his strength and savagery impressed his Helmite brethren and they renamed him ‘Oathhammer’, however even after the raiders were driven off, Luthor pursued them deep into the forest and disappeared; all believed the youth half crazed with blood lust and most likely dead.
However four days later, Luthor returned to the gates of the Helmite Stronghold holding his maul in one hand, and the head of the raider’s leader in the other. Luthor literally collapsed in exhaustion and prayer to the Vigilant One, and was found to have suffered no permanent injuries.
After word spread of how the youth had gone off alone and killed the Goblinoid leader, and survived, Ghaive withdrew his army from the region for a time.
Despite his valour on the battlefield, Luthor still did not receive a vision from Helm, and fell utterly into despair again, his next few years of life were uneventful and he never became a Paladin of Helm, eventually, tired of being shunned and rejected, Luthor sought an alternative way of serving Helm and thus became a Warrior and Priest of Helm.
It was early in his service as a War Priest, that Luthor learned to inspire Helmite Temple forces with rousing oratory speeches and feats of martial heroism, wherever the battle was the thickest, Luthor was determined to be there.
It was during a battle against the Zhentarium in his mid twenties, that Luthor appeared to have gone mad to those around him; he became convinced that Helm spoke to him and that he was special in some way.
It was by freak accident or nature that a large stone Helmite obelisk, from a fallen temple, fell down and crushed the commander and his command force of Zhentish officers, thus allowing the Helmites to capitalise on the situation and claim an easy victory, that Luthor lost half of his right ear and gained a large scar down the side of his head by the ensuring debris. Luthor pronounces it a divine omen from Helm that he had survived such a freak accident, and his faith became an obsession once more in his life.
Eventually at the age of 30, Luthor became estranged to his brethren in the Helmite Clergy and wandered far to the west where he came upon the Fields of the Dead and the city of Baldur’s Gate, a city in crisis with a war with Amn looming on the horizon.
Goals:
- To spread the teachings and dogma of the Vigilant One
- To combat evil wherever it is found.
- To prove he is a true prophet of Helm
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
- Ghaive Bloodtooth is still out there somewhere leading an army of Goblinoids and searching for the youth that bested him.
- Is Luthor special or just insane, with childhood issues?
- What is the deal with Luthor’s obsession with proving himself?
- What is Helm’s stance on Luthor Wolff?
- Can the rift between him and the other Helmite Clergy be restored?
The Mace of Helsturm
This war mace was first used in battle by the righteous Johann Helsturm. It is said that Helsturm’s faith in Helm was strong eough to shatter the walls of a castle, and that his mace retains a portion of his holy might.
Its mighty blows not only crush flesh and bone, but even spirits are cast to ruin as well. It’s spanglars are studded in ancient runes that are said to have been crafted by Dwarven Artisans of the Great Rift in a time long ago, and they bestow the power of unswerving accuracy and deadly retribution upon this weapon.
