Louhi Firekiss : Kissed By A Flame

Louhi’s eyes strained to look up, but it was as if they were nailed to the giant, onyx claws in front of her, and the red scaled foot to which they were attached. The sensation that filled her soul wasn’t so much as a combination of awe, relief that her quest was at an end, and trepidation about her reception. After a few moments, that felt like an eternity, she managed to un-seize her neck and look up, and up, and up to the gleaming fangs and fiery eyes of the dragon staring down at her with disdain.
“Why have you sought me, human? Your offering was manufactured to my tastes, so you must have been seeking me. Very stupid, or very ambitious,” it stentorian sibilant voice slithered. The massive head lowered quickly, like a snake striking, to take in the exceptionally beautiful human woman standing before him, and he inhaled a deep whiff of air. Louhi would have run at that moment if she could, but her muscles locked in fear.
“Lord Sintar, I am Loufi Firekiss, one of your descendants, and I came to seek out your blessing..” Her voice quaked slightly as she started to respond to his question, and firmed as she continued speaking, her innate confidence in herself returning slightly. ”I know that no one from our family has approached you in a long time. I had to dig through the House records to find out where our name came from once I knew I had power…”
“Power?” boomed the ancient dragon, sounding interested. “What have you gained from the drop of my essence in your veins then, youngling?” His fiery eyes seemed to be drinking in this young human, as if weighing her body, mind and soul and figuring out how much wealthy they were worth.
“I am a sorceress, the fire of magic burns in my blood. No one in my family has had any magic in ages, so I know it must be from you..” Her voice was thick with emotion. “I came to get whatever blessing I could from you, to accomplish my goal.”
“Goal?” asked the dragon, now clearly amused with this game. He crunched on the dismembered cow that had been left for him. “What goal do you have, my child?” He hissed in laughter as her eyes blazed when he acknowledged her.
“I want to be as powerful as I can, to make our glorious blood exalted over all the lesser creatures. To live as much like my ancestors as I can. My true ancestors.” The dragon preened slightly at this lavish praise.
The dragon and the girl spoke for many hours, he extracting knowledge from her like a dwarf takes gold from a mine, and she seeking any sign of approval from him. As night fell, he had her mount his neck and he flew her to a cave in the side of a mountain. As they flew inside an army of kobolds bowed before the flying dragon, and Louhi’s heart soared.
No one saw Louhi for several years, but word reached out into the world of a girl who accompanied a dragon on raids for treasure and meat, or a masked girl who led squads of kobolds on treks to dangerous and deep tombs in search of magic.
It was known that she was a sorceress and that she also called on a draconic master for some other power, power that burned with inimical power. A group of adventurers eventually assaulted the lair of Sintar, ancient red dragon of the north, in retribution for his trepidations. No humans were found within, but a human sized bedroom was discovered in the cave, and it was filled with shrines to the red dragon and his line.
A couple years later, a young woman of perhaps 22 appeared on the Sword Coast. Her demeanor was very haughty and she claimed that the royal blood of dragons filled her veins. She made her way throughout the coast, attracting followers and enemies. Never forgetting a boon or sleight.
