Began keeping this loose journal to help marshal my thoughts and keep notes. Arrived in the Gate to little interest. Carriage driver complained when I paid him in grey ice. Broken nose shut him up. Using the house name Bharaclaiev--doubtful such deception is a necessity, but it couldn't hurt. No trace of my former employer. Unsure quite as to how I feel regarding the whole situation. Extorted peasant re: pet badger in Beregost. Hilarious. Discovered way to use lizardfolk blood as a substitute in abramelin oil--surprisingly effective. Must remember to make note of new recipe the next letter to Cormanthyr.
