Chosen by the sea: the tale of Ruby of umberlee

In a dark corner of the broken goblet a woman sits alone,drinking grog, and looking at the tapetry depicting Umberlee, her queen.She has red hair and Dark orange eyes that almost appear red in in a certain light.

Her eyes are hard and cold and void of life and feeling, on the surface at least. For as the surface of a sea may appear calm, yet below strong currents flow, so to does the cold divine power and fury of her goddess lurk in this womon, a promise always of a storm ready to burst forth and drown any who dare to despise her queen. The calm of this woman is a controlled calm , as she stare at the depiction of umberlee, and sips the potent favored drink of orcish pirates.

As she drinks her mind wanders . The reason she is here, ...was here. She had heard of his tales, of his exploits and the exploits of his crew. maybe he was so vivid and alive because this coast, though cold and often wild, is not used to such as him.. free peopel doingwhat they want, what they must , to survive.

But one thing he had done,thatdrew her. He had killed the avatar of Valkar. The enemy of her goddess. she had left her home to come here, to offer in her goddeses name support for his crew that honored the queen. And now.. now he was dead. The ones who had killed him had killed one that the Queen favored..

Now he is gone. The crew has chosen a new temporary one. But will he honor the queen? I suppose he might, but also...the one who claims the right despises my queen and openly mocks her comparing her to a common necromancer. No fear as he speaks of her, when most, even those who are of good gods, speak her name with respect.. if they wish to sail the seas. She decides there.. she will not offer him her loyalty if he becomes the new king of that ship.Her god owns her, and she would return her to where she was found..should she swear to one sch as he...

her mind wanders back, , at the thought of that choosing, back to all that time ago. The room grows more blurred, the worries of the petty crew become distant, as she remembers....The day she was chosen by Umberlee....
