Sehlanna Alenuath
AB Negative: Possesses a rare bloodtype, and carries some of the personality traits associated; calm and controlled, but files away grudges of those whom cross her.
Anti Hero: Type II - III Her entire aim is to prevent more Drow atrocities against the Elven People, like she saw the aftermath of as a younger Ranger in the High Forest. But her desperation to do so pushes her to compromise methods for results. Known to kill incapacitated foes whom are ‘too dangerous’ to be taken alive, and send Non-Elves into the frontlines as distractions.
Black Cloak: Constantly wears this when in combat our around N’tel’quessir, for concealment. Symbolism coincides with her status as an Anti-Hero, dallying in questionable spells, and adherence to a vengeance religion.
Blood Magic: Lightly cuts her own hand for blood as spell catalyst for Assassin Spells.
Dark and Troubled Past Subverted. Despite being Shevarashan, the one Elven religion where sociopaths, tragic orphans, or worse are the rule not the exception, her own life has been relatively normal. Joining them at all was due to assignment with them and sympathy for unfortunate victims of the Drow.
Deadpan Snarker: Constant cynical humor about the lack of tactics from common adventurers, or deflating boastfulness of fellow Elves in high position. Went so far as to register her profession in Doron Amar as a “Gardener” just to avoid Celasoran’s leadership style. (To be fair, this is less a reflection on the Elf’s personal character, than an example of large military versus specialized unit culture clash.)
Dirty Business:This is the character’s entire theme: She makes tough and morally ambiguous decisions, but still expresses remorse. It takes repeated counseling for her to regain self-confidence after Kinslaying, let alone accept praise. Devoted to a job field (Drow & Traitor-Elf Hunter) that attracts heartbreak and bloodshed. And undergoes character development from how she and her friends deal with it.
Elf Shall Never Kill Elf: Despite her record, five Elfslayings to date, the lengths she goes to right matters after upholds the trope. Remorse is expressed, counsel sought, and she even makes it known what was done and why.
Heroic Fatigue: Sehlanna goes through this all the time. Often she will join up with the party after a sleepless night of hunting. By the time a quest is over she’s usually leaning on a friend halfway awake. Mistaken by her peers for typical Sheverashan obsession, when actually signs of clinical insomnia (Example C).
I Thought It Was Forbidden: She cites the 3rd Crown War, part of the horrendous Elf vs Elf conflict that lasted centuries, as the source of her Assassin Spells. But hardly any Elf but Sayiel ever calls her out on it.
Just Friends: Unable to consummate a relationship with lowborn or non Sun Elves, this is where attraction ends up with fellow Rangers. But as Rangers, definitions can blurto kissing or minor foreplay when alone in the wild. Truth in Television, historically known to occur with nobility IRL.
Lady of War: Elven Noblewoman history buff whom never curses, despite grievous injury, wielding Bow or Rapier in battle. Maintains propriety and not out of place in a dress or formal affair.
Military Brat: House Alenuath is almost nothing but these, and she is no exception. Unlike other Sun Elves whom enjoy luxuries or prestigious mage positions, they have pursued the call of Rangerhood for centuries. Mid & Late childhood as well as adolesence were training for the calling. Like a child IRL joining the Young Marines, then JROTC, ROTC, and then the military.
Military Maverick: Night Hunters are essentially Elven Spec.Ops; such forces in real life tend to be more relaxed on rules due to them already self-disciplined, and tendency to being assigned covert missions where traditional military behavior can be detrimental.
Our Elves are Better: Guilty of decrying Humans barbaric and war-like, despite full knowledge of the Crown Wars and holding the current record for Kinslaying (justified by circumstance) on server. Not a double standard, as she expresses genuine remorse for each incident. More relaxed around non Sun Elves than normal, due to time spent among them as a Ranger. Slightly subverted with her getting along amicably with Half-Elves, but befriends them out of pity rather than respect. Anu, as an Aasimar, is the exception.
Reconstruction: Backstory and character attitudes personify this with the character. Psychological issues the fantasy character would accrue are factored, as well as assumption that societies around her are functional and developed in sense of practicality. Accepts the criticism of how events would affect such a young, or any, warrior (See: Background, ‘Psychological Disorders’) and moves forward with the logical progression.
Shell Shocked Veteran: Began entry to the server as this due to backstory. Over time, and with continued therapy has gotten progressively better despite new traumas.
There Are No Therapists: Subverted Hard. Contrary to popular fantasy themes, personal tragedy is not her driving force, there are sympathetic figures (Priests) in place to counsel heroes, and she improves with time.
True Companions: Shares unquestioned trust with Annon Anu, Celduil, and Tyressan. Considers Anu the only Non-Elf she can actually trust.
