Background: Born into a dysfunctional family in the city of Neverwinter, Leander was quite neglected at a very young age, even as an only child. Wanting nothing more than to escape his current life, Leander naively ran away at the age of 13, traveling east along unknowingly dangerous roads. Eventually, he found his way into the High Forest, suddenly being surrounded by trees that towered over him like mountains. Aimlessly wandering through the forest and starving, Leander eventually was found by a Tel-quessir hunting party. Because the hunters realized Leander was so far away from home and of his resentment to even go back, the rangers decided to give Leander to a wood-elf by the name of Thromaedhar Valenfinn to be raised and trained in the ways of a hunter.

Leander learned quickly, and by the age of 18 he was an avid marksman with the longbow and often hunted with Thromaedhar and other members of their camp. Leander can to look up to Thromaedhar as the father he never really had, even taking up Thromaedhar's last name "Valenfinn", however he never told anyone in their camp this. Many of the Tel-quessir were astounded by Leander's physical and mental versatility and his ability to adapt to new situations for a human, believing that nimbleness and instinct of that caliber was solely an Elven trait. Because of Leander's skill, he was respected and treated as family, which Leander welcomed greatly.

Once his apprenticeship was over and he became a full-fledged ranger, he was trusted to find and retrieve magical artifacts from ruins with groups of other rangers. While away on one such journey, their camp was raided by a tribe of orcs, killing many of the Tel-quessi including Leander's adopted father Thromaedhar. Returning only to find the devastation of their camp, Leander was devastated to find the gruesome scene of burnt and mangled bodies, decapitated rangers, and women crying over lost loved ones. Leander and many of the returning rangers felt hopeless and somewhat responsible, thinking that if they were at camp when the attacked happend that they would of been able to change the outcome of the battle somehow. Leander collapsed to his knees sobbing heavily over the loss of Thromaedhar and the many others who he had grown close to over the 7 years he was with them.

Vowing to seek revenge, many of the surviving Tel-quessi set out on a 2 year campaign to terrorize the tribes of orcs in the surrounding areas with great success in some areas, but eventually the rangers became heavily outnumbered and were hunted down to a mere handful. Leander, along with the remaining surviving Tel-quessi, were forced to retreat from the Lost Peaks and eventually separated and when their own ways. Hopeless and lost, Leander thought it was time to return to "human civilization", what seems like a distant world from what he was used to. Wanting to avoid Neverwinter due to his horrible memories of it, Leander decided to travel to the Sword Coast to the city of Baldur's Gate, hoping to regain his strength and courage and to one day return to the Lost Peaks and avenge the loss of Thromaedhar and the only family he has ever loved.

Goals: Strength, knowledge, power, and allies.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts: Leander has been surrounded by nothing but human and wood-elf rangers and druids in the forest for the past 9 years, making his return to human cities a very difficult transition for him. He knows little of the ordinary day-to-day sights of Baldur's Gate such as large boats, advanced arcane magics, and the amount of people in one compact area.
