Mythorn ben-Linthorn ben-Karthorn Benn-Falchion-Moon is desended from a the Falchion-Moon tribe of Bedine desert-dwelling nomads from the Anauroch. The name means little to those along the Sword Coast, of course, as the Bedine people are very rare and mostly unknown this far south--but the Ben-Falchion-Moon name means everything to him.
Mythorn simply introduces himself as Benn (that is, "honored son of...") Falchion-Moon because he has not yet filled his own name Mythorn with it's distinctive place of honor among the tribe. In fact, he's never met most of them, and lived most of his life far from them.
Benn was born on the road south out of Anauroch, his family exiled 34 years ago after his father's father Karthorn lost a bitter dispute with the sheikh of the Falchion-Moon tribe. Karthorn was rightfully next-in-line to become the sheikh.
Karthorn's father--the sheikh--(whose name is not spoken among the Ben-Karthorn's) had been given a cursed magical weapon which the Ben-Karthorn's are quite certain warped his mind, turned the sheikh against him, and allowed the conflict to escalate to such a point as the sheikh disowned and exiled Karthorn, his own firstborn son.
Karthorn died at the desert's edge near Cormyr on the way out of their homeland. Benn's father Linthorn took over leadership of the clan (some 30 men, not counting the women and children). During those days, Benn (Mythorn) was born where the western edge of the Dragon Coast meets the borders of the Western Heartlands and Amn. They came to settle (eventually) not far from the outskirts of Crimmor in Amn when Benn was twelve.
Benn accompanied his father and two uncles on a journey deep into the Anauroch to attempt to settle the dispute and restore the family's honor. It was during those days, Benn first met the Falchion-Moon tribe. The cursed sheikh yet lived, and his mind was only further warped by the foul magics, such that he flew into a rage and attacked Linthorn. Linthorn fell in the dispute, and Benn's uncles reluctantly withdrew into the family's exile -- leaving the Karthorn clan's sword where it lay, in Linthorn's dead hand.
Goals:
Restore the family honor; ascend to his rightful place as Sheikh of the Falchion-Moon clan.
Fill his own name (Mythorn) with the honor necessary to contest any counterclaims.
Assemble his own harem and fill the desert with his many sons.
Destroy the sword that has warped the Falchion-Moon sheikh.
