Deez I'dek - in the search of immortality and fame...

Unread post by dzidek1983 »

Elven wizards tend to be a proud and disciplined individuals. This is a story of one of them. Deez I'dek is his name... and below is his journal, the description of his work and adventures he had to complete to achieve his immortality in the history of this realm.

DAY 1

I arrived in the Friendly Arm Inn just south of the city of Baldurs Gate.
The location of the Inn is perfect as it is situated in the middle, just between the paths to the four most powerfull wizard towers in the area.

Below there is a map drawn by hand of the Sword Coast, pinned by a metal strap to the page of the journal.
On the map there are four wizard towers marked, first the Red Wizard guild in Baldurs Gate, then Candlekeep library on the west, a wizard tower near Beregost and one in the east described as Elven Tower.

I will have to decide shortly which i use. From the trader in the Friendly Arms i have heard that there is also a book trader in the Palace District of Baldurs Gate. But recent events in that place could destroy that route. I need to find a big source of knowledge.. and quickly

Then his eyes travel across the drawn map to the location of Candlekeep.

Things to do note: contact the Candlekeep rulers about using the library.

DAY 2

Both Candlkeep or the Doron Amar Elves are very carefull when it comes to new members in their ranks. I have left several messages for the Council and the Guide to arrange a meeting with them.
I met and elven female wizard which name i can't now exactly remember... Lafeite.. Laifereth.. or something like that *remember to take notes next time* that is a member of the Candlkeep guild, she is titled as a Seeker... she promised to talk to the guide in my name...

I now look forward to joining my brothers and sisters as well as the citadel of knowledge...

The note for this day is short as nothing much happened. Deez traveled to leave the messages and spent most time near FAI where he met some fellow travellers and wizards.

DAY 3

Today finally i got to meet the Guide of Candlkeep... the conversation was a pleasant one and i joined as an acolyte shortly after it ended....
I was shown the library and my quaters, nothing fancy but i don't complain. I met some inhabitants and another Seeker. They all seem friendly and helpfull. I really like such attitude. It is much better then that elven priest i met also today.

Sadly that meeting shot my Doron Amar Citizenship down the drain. I have to remember to not get involved with this particullar character. Maybe i got carried away calling him a Lolth disciple but he had no right to call me an imbecile either and his attitude clearly stated that he enjoys a non-polite disputes. He was not like the priests of Corellon i met before.

But i don;t care about him. I am just sad that other people witnessed our argument especially Miss Laitae... Will have to try to prove my good name to her in the future.

Not all Doron Amar folk are like this i also met a ranger named Toshiro. He is a good man.
I see forward to meeting him again.

Now.. on to my studies...

DAY 4

I met some more Doron Amar elves... those were good citizens and i enjoyed meeting them...
If things run more smoothly i will soon be a citizen despite the priests disapproval for my person.

The rest of the day post is full of normal day chores...

DAY 5

Today finally i reached the 6th circle of magic. The training grounds in the sea cave proved exceptionally good. I practiced many fire based spells and even more defensive ones.

Later i tried to focus on my studies. I thought about what spell could i create, should it be destructive or harmless or maybe a defensive one. The possibilites are endless. I wouldn't like to see my creation being used by evil forces so i decided to create a spell that does not damage. I already have some ideas and even appropriate names for them but it is to early to say anything.

I will focus on illusions i think....

Day 18

Time flies... i still need one more signing to be a citizen of Doron Amar. I didn't think this will be such a difficult task. Putting aside the hatred from the clerics i met, i think the rest of the people are quite friendly altough they are carefull. I have to try harder but convincing them to my person sometimes is irritatng. Lack of clear rules is an obstacle that you can't defeat by yourself... i need more allies....

In Candlekeep things are peacefull, i concentrate on my tasks so after some time i can become a Seeker. I now that day is far from now but i don't give up. Altough making laundry and running for ink is sometimes frustrating and boring. But at least i know what i have to do. It's so much clearer the Doron Amar's rules.

The work on my spell moves forward, i thought about many immunity spells but none of them really fits my needs so i made a quick turn and now i concentrate on something else. Still no offensive magic, but now i want to focus on a spell that helps others. I have some ideas but need to study them and for that i need my new spell book... and i had no luck in acquiring it... maybe soon...

Day 30

I now manage to controll the 7th circle spells... this makes me use some really powerfull arcane force. I decided to help the local community in my free time. I left my researches for some time - until i acquire a new spell book - and after i am done with my tasks as an acolyte i engage new adventures linked to rebuilding of Beregost.

I still fail at joining Doron Amar. It makes me sad. Sometimes i think that word has spread about my conflict with the Corellon clerics and it falsly describes me as a troublemaker so citizens avoid me. But as always i don't give up. Maybe i should arrange a meeting with miss Silias and we could explain some things to each other.

I was also infomed by the Seeker Hoihe he is joining an expedition to Waterdeep. I asked him to look for a new spell boook for my researches. I hope he finds something....

DAY 44

It started peacefully, made some minor tasks, visited FAI to get some supplies for the keep.
I met there Hoihe and Miss Laitae. The discussion turned to be very helpful as the two had a lot to add on my research. Hoihe guided me to some books that i should study. Miss Laitae was helpful too.

On my way back i asked once more Phylidia about a spare spell book. After some time she replied she only had some spare pages. I bought a bunch. Then Thomas crafted a fine leather cover out of troll skin. So there it is... my brand new Arcanabula....

The troll skin cover provides the book with great physical resistance but is weak to fire and acid. Will have to think of a way to put an elemental resistance rune on the cover.

Thats the next thing to do in the upcoming days. Now of to do some experiments....
