Background:

Isendor Te'lend was the third child of three for Isendir and Dara Te'lend of the High Forrest. Isendir and Dara served the People as Scout and Druid respectively and while most couples left to live in the villages once the children arrived they decided to continue their service to the People . While uncommon the practice is not unheard of. They were part of the force that patrolled the borders and responded to any hostile incursion to ensure the safety of the inhabitants. Due to the nature of his parents tasking the family moved on a regular basis and Isendor grew up with his siblings and the animals of the forest as his more constant childhood companions. Although close to his family and holding deep love of the forest the constant moving meant Isendor never developed close ties to community and friends that is normal in a more stable childhood. One episode of his childhood that had future implications was the discovery of a baby boar nuzzling at its mother who appeared to have died defending her offspring from the dead Orc nearby. The mother had succumbed to wounds received in the fight leaving the small boar orphaned. Isendor rescued and raised the boar and they became constant companions in the forest around the camps where they lived.

Living mostly in military camps led to the young Isendor being given rudimentary training in a wide variety of weapons, mostly traditional Elvish but also including some that the enemies of the forest used, you never know what's going to fall to hand in the middle of a battlefield. While he will never be the expert marksman his father is, under the tutelage of this excellent archer he became more than competent with a variety of bows. Through his mother he took a liking to the lighter, bladed weapons favoured by the druids. Being quite a dexterous lad he quickly adopted an aptitude for wielding two of his mothers sickles in mock combat with his imaginary Orcish enemies. As he got older the training became rigorous as he was prepared for a position with the scouting forces once he came of age. As with all under training he accompanied response forces to some of the smaller incursions. While not allowed to engage in the hand to hand combat he was armed with a bow and managed to feather a goblin or two.

There were regular visits by merchants to the more permanent camps Isendor's family were stationed at and the stories they told of the world outside the forest fascinated Isendor and gradually an urge built inside him to go and see these sights for himself. He also felt the knowledge to be gained from travel in world outside the forest could be of great benefit to the People. When he broached the subject with his father and mother his father was adamant that Isendor had a duty to the People and there was no room for this nonsense of travelling. Why leave the forest when all you want or need is there. Isendor let it go at that and set himself for his future scouting the forest borders. But the merchants kept coming and the stories fed the urge building inside him. Eventually Isendor decide he had to go, with or without parental consent.

Over the next few months he started quietly gathering and storing those things he would need in his travels as well as items that could be sold to provide cash for the venture. He never 'acquired' anything that was needed or treasured but instead looked in the old storage sheds scattered about for items that were discarded or forgotten. The gathering had to be done in a stealthy manner so as not to arouse the suspicions of his parents or others of the garrison. Except for a bow weapons would be his main problem as he had not yet been presented with his arms and staying until after receiving them would mean formally deserting his position. This was solved in a not overly satisfactory manner when he found an old battleaxe in one of the storage sheds, likely a forgotten battle trophy from years past. Although old it had been stored well and it was in good condition. As any other weapon in the camp would most likely be missed the battleaxe would have to do until he could replace it with something more suitable.

And so the time came that he had gathered all he needed without discovery. He had written a letter to his parents explaining his actions and placed it where it was sure to be found after his departure. He informed his parents that he and Styx, the rescued boar, would be spending a few days in the forest and would most likely be gone at least 4 days. This was not out of the ordinary as many youngsters spent time roaming the forest when the borders were quiet. He departed and retrieved his cache of gear and set out on the road to see what the world had to offer. After some time he found his way to Baldur's Gate and he now sits in the Elf Song Tavern contemplating his few remaining coins as he sips on his ale and wonders what next.

Goals: Travel, exploration and adding to his knowledge of the world.

Possible Plot hooks:
Due to the nature of his departure he is evasive about the full detail the circumstances.
Events occur in the High Forrest that he avoided by departing and he is now able to avenge/set to right the wrongs done.
Chance meetings and encounters during his travels from the High Forest to Baldur's Gate lead to future adventures.
