Template For Character Creation Reward:
First Name: Lucan
Last Name: Valerious
Appearance:
Race: Human Tiefling
Age: Around 27
Height 6'1"
Weight: Little muscle mass or fat
Eyes: Pinkish Red
Hair: Doesn't grow
Facial Hair Style: Doesn't grow
Other: Lucan's fiendish ancestry has given him a few strange features. His skin is tight, dry and thin, and he finds it hard to put on weight, leading to a boney appearance. His fingers are abnormally long and his nails grow quickly. What hair he has is sparse and thin, and none of it is on his head. He usually wears a warm hood and robes for comfort while travelling and for hiding his features should the need arise. He has tattoos typical of Banite followers on his face and body.
Personality Profile:
General Health: Gaunt and lacking of muscles, but otherwise physically fit.
Deity: Bane
Initial Alignment: Lawful Evil
Profession: Currently Aimless. Would like to work as a henchman / enforcer.
Base Class & Proposed Development: Monk with splashes into rogue and shadow dancer for sneaksy-ness
Habits/Hobbies: Reading, people watching, sparring, story telling.
Languages: Common and Infernal, although he has only used the latter for reading.
Weapon of Choice: His bones.
Background:
Lucan was raised in a cloistered village in the Forgotten Forest, next to the Marsh of Chelimber. From what Lucan has researched, the great families of the village turned to worship an evil God of some form some ten generations before his birth; most likely one of the Dead Three. In time the village leadership (more likely a council of elders than a mayor) recognised a growing issue of inbreeding due to the remote location of the village.
At first, women, girls and occasionally men were captured and used to lower the numbers of disabled children born. Later the leadership decided similar tactics could be used to improve the stock of citizens rather than to merely prevent birth defects. Years later the village summoned some manner of fiend and bound it before using it to create half fiendish children (Lucan was somewhat relieved to find there was no documentation as to how exactly this was done. He assumes further kidnap victims were used).
Lucan is the watered down product of one of the half fiend children breeding with a normal human, and then more regular breeding down around 4 generations. In this time religious fanatasism grew as the part fiendish villagers saw themselves as true children of their God. Eventually rumours and tales of the evil village reached larger settlements, and soon enough adventurers went out to cleanse the village of fiends, and cleanse they did. Lucan was around 16 when the village was torched. Those with obvious fiendish features were slain, and presumably the bound monster too. Lucan, along with a few other Tieflings without any obviously fiendish features were assumed to be kidnap victims and found themselves 'rescued'. Lucan knew that correcting his captors would have meant death, and so played along.
Lucan spent his next few years trying to emulate what he could remember of the village, scared of losing his identity. He had his face and bone lines tattooed and learned to fight as the half fiends of the village did; or as near to as he could through self teaching and reading of similar fighters. He also read much of the Dead Three, sure that one was the God revered by his village. When a librarian became suspicious of his tattoos and rather specific reading interests, he was barred. Lucan stole what books he could, among them an analysis of Bane and his following. He saw many similarities between Bane and his village's old God, more so than between it, Mrykul and Bhaal, and so adopted Banite teachings. With little left for him in the city and feeling content in his research of his culture, Lucan set out to refine his combat techniques and find a new purpose.
Goals:
- Find an organisation or person suitable to serve.
- Possess the physical abilities his half fiendish relations had.
Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
- Prefers to act as the means to an end rather than as an end in himself.
- Makes up for his lack of physical strength with dexterity.
- Thinks his fiendish ancestor was likely a Bone Devil.
- Unjustified prejudice against the shorter races.
- Fond of dogs.
- Lacks empathy and general morals; uses rules and laws to substitute for them.
