His mother in a show of kindness spirited the child away with a passing merchant doing business with the wizard. She should have left him to die. While the Merchant was a purveyor of strange and unusual objects for Emen, his main form of income was slavery. It was not long after the child began to grow that he was thrust into slavery under the Merchant.
The merchant known as Kalro Garnstan, chose to keep the child rather than sell him at auction. He was an oddity and had the most remarkable lavender eyes. He was trained and groomed to be Kalro's personal assistant. It was not long that te merchant rued his mistake. Kalro's business interests led him to Baldur's Gate. While the business wasn't exactly legal it was very lucrative. Unfortunately for Kalro someone had tipped off one of the bigger underworld gangs in BG who wanted in on the action. When Kalro refused, the gangs began a systematic cleansing of kalro's business interests which included: assasination of his agents, theft of his property, and torching of his holdings. Seizing the opportunity in one particularly brutal assault of Kalro's villa, young Argos seized the opportunity to elude his master, spiriting away what little extravagance he could. Kalro died in the ensuing fire.
Unaccustomed to life on the streets young Argos learned the hard lessons of the Wharf. He learned quickly, and eventually fell in with a gang under the leadership of Vor Vishuss. While cruel and decisive in his business he took a liking to the young boy. He taught him the rule of streets and hard life lessons for which Argos was ill-prepared.
The year's passed and Argos grew into a man learning the way's of the streets and the seedy underbelly of Baldur's Gate. Vor was eventually caught and executed by the fist. That day Argos decided to take Vor's surname as a reminder of the man and the kindness he had shown the boy, despite his ill reputation.
