Tales from the crypt

The crypt west of Varallas has always been a popular destination for adventurers and treasure hunters. Rumor has it the vast funeral complex may very well date back all the way to the foundation of the city by Lothist over two thousand years ago. Who knows what treasures have piled up over the centuries.

A rag tag group composed of Fina the Drow , Agg the Tannaruk , Céca the dureguar and Gruk the orc set out to find their fortune there. But they soon found themselves handling more then your common zombie.

Usually the undead are also brain dead and they were told they'd only find mindless automatons for the most part , mummys , skelletons and a hag or two ... But not that cycle. A large shawdow stalker guarded the crypt. After a long but victorious battle , they found themselve pretty shaken up and deep inside the unholy sanctuary , a few moments rest and a resdistribution of available ressources then they drove on .

Clueless as to what was going on , their reasons were diverse , gold , artefacts , glory and greed. None of them knew any others only a cycle before and unity in the cause came from within each individuals.

They battled onwards facing an irregular undead militia , deadly scythe foot soldiers , backed up by a solid skeletton sheild wall , mummys flanking them and undead wizards testing their will to fight.

But what they found next nobody expected , a Drow kid , seemingly frightened. Said to have been kidnapped by dureguars , he hid in a book case. Showing strange powers for a youngling he minized itself to fit into Agg the tannaruk's back pack. Inciting them to pick up the trail of the dureguars. Potential ransom , glorious rescue or mysterious artefacts , motivations differed again but sank deep none the less in evry earth.

Picking up the scent like hounds after a fox , the tannaruk and the orc drive on, almost barking and howling in the pursuit. With their senses overwhelmed by the close scent of their prey , the scent of blood , but mostly , the scent of death.

In the deepest catacombs of the ancient crypt , the final show down had arrived. A very old and powerfull evil had set up a foot hold in this unholy sanctum. Vampires and their familiars empowered by an odd glowing stone upon a pedestal.

Curses and protective wards flew from all over , the battle was hard and many almost fell into eternal darkness. But in the end , the vampires had been driven back and the stone taken. Supprisingly , the kid managed to survive , well hidden in the Agg's back pack. Looting the place they foundd glorious spoils of war ; large bags of gold and assorted magical rings on the dureguar's corpses, the kidnappers , now dead and their secrets with them in the abyss.

Certain of their total vicotry , the group prepares to leave , Fina ,the drow faern, concentrates and teleports them to Sshamath. But mysteriously the drow kid had vanished , perhaps indicating once again his unusual magical powers and that there was more then met the eye in rescuing a kidnaped innocent drow child...

Word spreads in Sshamath of troubles towards the west; quite a few as well though you'd have to ask for details. But it seems the adventurers are to be relied upon for the upcoming year.

i just hope i will be able to catch some of them considering my time zone and the fact that i go to school (came back home just after this post was created meaning i missed an event for my Ud carachter )

Twisting around to adjust his armor and trying to scratch his rear as he walks down Varallas passage towards Sshamath, a short tanarukk mumbles in conversation with himself.

"Did Agg kills the child Jabbuk?"
"Agg has the kid, then the kids be gone'd"

*His eyes suddenly widen and his step falters*

"The dark ones blame Agg for this"
"Agg gets hunted down by the dark ones!"
"The dark ones catches Agg and tortures him for this!"
"Agg be killed at theys hands"

After a long pause, with his limbs beginning to shake, he begins walking again.

"Agg has the stone"
"Agg finds someone tells him about the stone"
"maybe's it helps finds the Illi..Ily..thhyr... drow babe"
"but not the dark ones, Agg not go there"

*He turns back the other way and starts to run away from Sshamath*

"Agg find helps..."

Agg has the kid and Agg is gone with the wind ... but fina has the gem and will look to unlock it's secrets.
