Background:

Beldak grew up in a family of halfling actors, who run a little theater in Scornubel. He had always identified with the role of the hero in the plays he acted in, which most of the time revolved about local legends and heroes. Although the initial focus was supposed to be on philosophical and emotional matters, the staged fights Beldak improvised grew a lot stronger in popularity.

One day, Largos Stronghand, a local adventurer and hero, by chance witnessed a play in which he himself was impersonated by Beldak. Largos was an ill-tempered man with no sense of humor, so the slightly gawky way in which he was presented did make him fume with anger. In the midst of the second act, he stood up and shouted at the actors: " I, Largos Starkhand, have slain monsters and evildoers a plenty, and you think you should insult me like this? This little weak midget bears not the slightest similarity to me!" Beldak, his tongue faster than his mind, countered instantly: "I beg for your pardon, Sir, but every single hobgoblin we asked would simplay refuse to play the role." Largos wasn´t exactly smart, but he understood the laughter the audience and started to charge at Beldak. The halfling was overthrown easily by the massive muscles of Largos, who couldn´t even stopped for a slight moment by the other actors, who tried their best to help their kin out of the mess. The audience, although laughing at Largos at first, was now cheering for him as he tore anything asunder which he could get into his hands. After havin received the beating of his life, Beldak flew through one of the fake walls which were part of the stage setting and got stuck in it, which got Largos a loud applause. Satisfied for the moment, Largos stepped down the stage and left the theater, his mere presence threatening enough so everyone made room to the sides so he could get through.

Beldak was devastated. The humiliation of his soul, both as fighter (after all, he had regarded himself as quite good before) and as an actor was nagging at him whatever he did. The audiences didn´t seem to forget the event either. He didn´t leave his room for weeks, despite all efforts of his family members. In secrecy, he was working out a plan to pay Largos back and score him off with everyone to see. But when he was just finished to put the plan into action, he learned that Largos had left the city already a few days ago, seeking new adventures in the west. Beldak furiously began to pack the most necessary things and set out to rush after him, leaving his family confused. By asking through the towns he came through, he seemed to catch up to Largos every single day. However, upon his arrival in Baldur´s Gate, the trace suddenly vanished...

Goals:

More than anything, Beldak wants to settle his score with Largos Stronghand by humiliating him in public and forcing him to apologize. Secretly, he begins to identify himself more and more with the heroes he had only pretended to be until recently.

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:

- Beldak will do almost anything to catch up on Largos trail again and confront him. He wants Largos to make a fool out of himself in public and make him apologize to him and his family. A simple fight however would not satisfy Beldak at all, nor would killing Largos. Although this is Beldak´s main goal, he still is not at all sure how to handle it, and a confrontation could turn out to lead to a very different ending to what he expects, depending on the circumstances.

- He is a born actor, who would enthusiastically jump on to an act that interests him anytime.

- He is afraid of begin regarded as a coward or goof-off. People who don´t take him seriously can get him quite enraged.
