Deep Gnome slippery defense - ECL imbalance

I have started RPing a Deep gnome, and noticed they don't get slippery defense (-4ac) I can understand that this ability may be considered Overpowered, especially at high lvls. However, the class still has an ECL of +3. This makes the class ridiculously difficult to play. And you man notice there are no deep gnomes in UD.

I want to play my deep gnome for RP reasons. However, I think this gimping of the class breaks it. To compensate for removing slippery defense the ECL should be lowered to +2 (Drow are far more overpowered due to natural abilities than a Deep Gnome w/o slippery defense). Removing slippery defense and keeping the ECL so high breaks the class.

Odd. The server rules state Deep Gnomes are ECL2.

Deep Gnomes now no longer gain the feat Slippery Defense (+4 Dodge AC). As a result they are ECL 2 instead of ECL 3
