First, is this class available? do we need a token, I have an grey-orc who appears to meet the requirements and is unable to take the class.

Second:
Can we get a bit more of a description on the new cavesalker class. I think it will be a good fit for one of my characters, but I want to know what I'm getting into.

For example... what are the ranger feats we're talking about (we talking toughness and evasion, duel wield, and/or favored enemies.

Also, what are the in game effects of the other descriptions?

Does he get HIPS at lvl 3 and what not? If you can post it somewhere (new classes would be ideal) it would be great

It's only in for testing at this stage. The full description will be posted when it goes in proper.

*Wonders if I should talk about it or not...*

Anyhow, you can find the PnP version of the class on the page 68 of the 3.5 edition Drow of the Underdark manual.
From the page 68, Drow of the Underdark wrote:The Underdark's most dangerous predators are not its horrific monstrosities, crawling and festering in the darkest of grottoes. Rather, they are the deadly cavestalkers, moving effortlessly through a jungle of living rock — and none are as much at home in these caverns as the drow.

Just as a surface ranger feels at peace in the heart of a virgin forest, so too is a cavestalker is at home in the wilds of the Underdark. Yet even in his most familiar environment, he is aware of the ever-present danger that surrounds him. It is in the task of surviving this endless peril that he finds peace away from so-called "civilized folk."

You could see the class an an Underdark Ranger or Druid. It doesn't give ranger or druid abilities but it allows you to use these underground if you have them. The level 2 feat: Underdark Affinity does this. The other Cavestalker abilities don't offer any class synergy.

For Druids there is the possibility of getting Verminshape also, if they can wildshape.

Does this make Plant walk usable in the UD? I've seen some rather large mushrooms and patches of mold...

Problem might be that there's no way of discerning if the player is Plant Walking to somewhere else in the UD or the surface? Teleport is supposed to be the only way to move between the barrier ruins, at high risk and only a short way at a time etc. far as I understand.

Seems hard to implement, but I wouldn't know for sure.

Aside from that, whats the time scale on this? I'm totally making a UD ranger...

It is likely a long ways off as the abilities currently are not triggering in underground areas and a solution has yet to be found to solve the problem.

We've cracked the problems it had, it's picking up steam and looking very good so far. I think the QC testers really like how it works, now that it's working.

Rangers and Druids rejoice!

This sounds like a pretty good reason to take 9 levels of Cavestalker, if it goes in like this :)
Void in Space
Type of Feat: Class Ability
Prerequisites: Cavestalker 9th level
Specifics: Your attunement to the particular atmosphere of the Underdark allows you to warp the shadows, sounds, scents, and vibrations you give off, rendering you difficult to hear and see. You gain Displacement 8% and a +2 bonus to hide and move silently
Use: Automatic

8% concealment sounds better than it really is. It took me 1 minute in parry mode to verify that it was working! Only one in every 12.5 attacks will miss, and if someone has blindfight that 8% drops down to 0.64%. The stealth bonuses are nice though.

Well you wouldn't notice it that much against one or two opponents, but as soon as there's multiple opponents, i'm sure you would see it trigger alot more. At any rate pretty decent considered the only other way to gain passive concealment is via. hard to get epic feats.

Btw. has the spell progression on Cavestalker been decided on yet?

It has no spell progression.
