Bomani Lionmane

Unread post by Deacon »

Character Creation Reward:

First Name: Bomani
Last Name: Lionmane

Appearance:
Race: Human
Sub-race: Bedine
Age: 37
Height 6'0"
Weight: 176
Eyes: Grey
Hair: None
Facial Hair Style: None

Personality Profile: Growing up with the customs of the Bedine made Bomani indifferent to good and evil. He tends to live by his whim, if a man has a camel he wants, he takes it, if the man fights back, he kills him. Life is cut in dry in the desert. Socially that was considered okay. He would be considered charitable by some, but not the Bedine, because he would give food and drink to whoever needed, another Bedine custom. He tries to have a somewhat positive attitude in life, but it is marred by the experiences he has had. He think he is a coward, a failure. Stuck in a vicious circle of self-doubt. He never voices his thoughts though. He is not ugly, (char is very low, but in that I was going for more not much of a leader) and has always been bull-headed and unable to get along with his people. He would make decisions based on what he can get, not on other factors like experience (wis is also very low). (An older version of this character would have more char, wis, less strength, less dex)

General Health: Physical Health is Excellent, Mental Health not so much. The trauma of his past comes back to haunt him.
Deity: Shaundukul
Initial Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Profession: Ex-Sheikh/ Currently a traveling duelist
Base Class & Proposed Development: Fighter/Weapon Master/Dervish I figured it out all 3 levels are taken before 20.
Habits/Hobbies: Bomani enjoys horseback or camel riding, especially when he was back with his tribe. He tends to think more about that time then he does anything else now a days. He also enjoys challenging people to duels. He wishes to increase his skill, though he wishes not to kill or maim, because he knows that a fight can bring people closer together.
Languages: Common/Animal/Dwarf/Thayan
Weapon of Choice: Scimitar

Background:On the Bedine: Few in the Realms have even heard of the Bedine of Anauroch. Fewer still know the true nature of Bedine society. Legends speak of fierce people who dwell in the dry, sun-baked sands of Anauroch, swathed in long robes against the sun. These ruthless men ride camels, force their women to cover their faces, and wage endless war on each other with scimitars, for possession of camels and water sources (who may change hands hundreds of times in the course of a person's brief, brutal lives). The Bedine distrust magic, especially that of the arcane arts. When they need magical aid, they call on the gods-and often, the gods answer them directly. More reliable sources (such as sages) tend to believe that the Bedine live in nomadic tribes, ruled by rival sheikhs, and that their male dominated society is warlike, hardened by the harsh desert life. They are experts on living in conditions that swiftly kill those not used to the perils of Anauroch. These Bedine are cruel, backward people (after all, they choose to live in a harsh desert, and fear and avoid using magic). They dwell in tents, wear loose, flowing robes and cover their heads against the sun, cover the faces of all the women, herd camels, and butcher each other (and, with even more enthusiasm, any intruders unlucky enough to come within their reach) with scimitars.

Bomani the Desert Lion, was a Sheikh of a tribe in the Anauroch desert. His father was the Sheikh, and when he died Bomani took over. Bomani's life was largely peaceful, the relations where high with the neighboring Bedine tribes, and the herd was prosperous. His life was was easy. He really had no tough problems to deal with, and all other problems were done by the Tribal Elders. He had lack of wisdom and his leadership was only reinforced by his fathers legacy. So life went by day by day, until the Zhentarim marched into their camp. He was asked for them to move, and pay to help secure the trade route and march against other tribes that deniend them. Bomani, being foolish and prideful decided to challenge the messenger and his retainers cut them all down in combat. When the Zhentarim noticed that their messenger never returned from Bomani's camp, the Zhentarim decided to take a more cautious policy against him and his tribe, not wanting to embroil the desert in conflict. Sadly, a Captain of the Zhentarim with a lust for power, decided that he would be rewarded greatly for the extermination of Bomani's tribe. So he tracked his tribe down with the power of their mages, and ambushed the tribe. The captain using the element of surpise, got close to their encampment at night, and silently killed the sentries. Most of the tribe was asleep, except for wandering men, tending the fires. When the Zhentarim striked most of the tribe was crushed, the warriors fought bravely when they were roused by the noise, and but none came out alive. The women raped, and the children decapitated. In an origination that valued restraint, this Captain show none. He seemed to get sadistic glee out of the horrors he unleashed upon his enemies. Bomani, was sleeping in his tent when it happened. He reacted slowly, and when he did find out what was going on, he charged into the midst. The simple fact was that they wouldn't survive, and he was pulled back from the fray by his loyal retainer. I would like to say that this part was honorable, that he charged back and met the captain in the field of battle and defeated him, and the opposing army routed in fear. That he rode on the back of horse to the coast, looking to recruit men and lead an attack on the Zhentarim. The truth is that he hid. He donned a fallen Zhentarim's armor and rode out as a warrior of them. His retainer dying pretending to defend his tent, Bomani is for ever scarred by this selfless display. (Reason for Chaotic Neutral, my plan is that he turns more lawful as time goes.) When reaching an oasis, for watering the horses, Bomani pretended to need refill his waterskin, and would catch up. Hearing the stories about the famous flaming fist and the tales of glory and influence on the sword coast from his sages, he ventured east until he his a large sea, and not knowing what direction to travel, he proceeded south, on a road that led him through great cities. He visited Neverwinter attempting to find warriors to march with him. He found them, but they cost gold, and he none, and no way to gather them. So he ventured even deeper into the south, until he his Baldurs Gate, and set out to gather riches and fame for his one man cause of vengeance against the Zhentarim. (He doesn't know that this was an act of a rogue captain).

Goals: Vengeance on the Zhentarim

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:
1. Leading again.
2. Gain Wisdom. (My Char build doesnt use wisdom so any item that gives wisdom as a quest item would increase RP)
