Background:

I am the one who knocks

The Silent Strangler. Iron-armed Assassin. Back-alley Butcher. These are just a few of the names given to the man who murdered over a dozen different men and women throughout Calimshan. All for a reasonable price, of course. Kaedis Valar, or was it Roderick Gemmen? Maybe Al'zhan Muhamedi? Whatever his real name, Kaedis Valar has been an assassin for hire for as long as he cares to remember.

Little is known of Kaedis' early history, though those who lived through a particularly bad year of highway robbery in the deserts surrounding Calimshan can vouch for his involvement with the parting of many coinpurses. Indeed, Kaedis' early tutelage in the ways of the brigand likely occurred in the Calim Desert. Some bandits, however, tire of such a simple life robbing merchants.

Any rogue worth his salt knows the best money (and power) is acquired through killing. Whether it's killing your rivals or killing someone else's rivals. Kaedis was a natural at assassination and had no difficulty finding and filling contracts. Unfortunately, when you become particularly good at something, there is always someone else who wants to be better. Such was the case and Kaedis soon found himself one of those rivals needing to be killed.

Breaking Amn

Feeling the weight of a growing number of bounties on his own head, Kaedis set out north for Amn. It was here he took up the name Silver-haired Jim and hung out around the docks of Athkatla looking to do what he did best. After a fairly successful string of robberies and assassinations, Kaedis got himself into a bit of trouble.

Kaedis took a contract for the killing of three members of a noble merchant family in Athkatla and to date it has been the only contract he has been unable to fulfill. After a run-in with Amnish authorities and brief stay in prison, Kaedis fled yet further north to Baldur's Gate where he now resides dangerously close to Amn.

Goals: Disregard laws, acquire currency

Possible Plot-Hook Ideas and Misc Facts:

1. Kaedis has a number of bounties on his head and there are plenty of people across the realms who would probably like to kill him
2. A nobleman from the Athkatla contract killings still lives and has seen his face
3. Kaedis will do just about any job for the right price
4. Kaedis generally won't kill the people he robs unless under contract to do so; it's part of his code of "ethics"
