Here are excerps from A diary owned by Anexo Hastids..
"....said when I arrived in Baldur's Gate today. I am still trying to understand the workings of this big city. Much different from Arabel. I dont know if I'll ever set foot in Arabel again. It's been months since I left and after Nax passed on I dont see any reason to return. I found my way to the local tavern. Seems quaint enough. The drinks arent as fresh as they are in Arabel, but the biggest trade city should have the best ale I suppose...."
"....then I ran into something I have never laid eyes on before! His skin was like.. a gem! His name was Jade I believe, seemed friendly enough although I couldnt help but think about chipping a small piece from his face, or maybe a toe. Although I doubt he would let me. He showed me where some Kobolds hide out, luckily he was there. An arrow pierced me right through my shoulder. I almost fell that..."
"....Bandit camp. I finally found some folks that would help me in there. Last thing I remembered was being swamped by bandits. I dont even remember how I got out of there. Mind blanked out. Made some coin delivering wolf pelts to a local tanner. At least I assume he is a tanner, I dont know what a farmer would want with that many pelts..."
"...named Cain approached me today. He asked me to get some papers from a scribe or so. Seemed simple enough, I put in the order but havent been able to make it back to candlekeep. Creatures block the roads and those ogres can smell me anywhere. I'll need to find help to get back down there. There's 500 coin in it for me!..."
"I am starting to get my bearings here now. Have been clearing the area of bandits and kobolds and running into some interesting folks. Met a sorcerer of sorts who singed my eyebrows off with a giant ball of fire! She almost met with my rapier in her back, but she was fortunate enough that I am not like my brother was...."
"...training with my blades. Where at first I was uncomfortable wielding two seperate blades I am now finding that it is easier for me to parry blows with two blades. The rapier is fast and quick and can deflect the blow and give me enough time to counterstrike. Some more time practising and I could rival the Royal Guards in combat...."
"....shadows. My brother's training has proven invaluable. His ability to hide in plain sight still eludes me but I snuck up on a wizardling today and almost gave him a heart attack. Then I met another stealthy fellow who hid in plain daylight! I must find him again..."
"....Nax's mistakes. I have to remember Mother's last words. "Don't make the same mistakes Nex. Be better." I wonder if thats why I feel drawn to a life of adventure. Nax was content in Arabel, thieving the local merchants, stealing from the ogres. Causing the guard a LOT of grief. Luckily I am nothing like my brother was. I dont need to steal from others to fill my purse. I will take it from their corpses after combat or earn it by fulfilling my tasks. I have thought about perhaps joining the...."
