The past:
The story of Lucian began in the city of Neverwinter. Born to a family of merchants he lived a good life , without too many worries. He grew up reading books of great heroes vanquishing great beasts and always imagined himself doing it someday.
At the age of twelve during one of his parents business travels, upon returning from a deal in the Silver Marches , he met a young elf girl by the name of Kalee who shared his love for stories and also his heroic dreams. They would slowly start to befriend each other , and with time grow ever so closely , eventually ending up falling in love.
Upon reaching the age of fifteen while around the city with Kalee they received the news that would change their lives forever. Both of their parents along with any other merchants that where with them were killed during a bandit raid on the caravan they were part of. With their parents gone they ended up on the streets with nothing but each other.
They eventually thought of a way to gather some money by learning how to fight and hunting wolves, bears and other animals that would attack the various farms in the area . With time they would get better and better at it seeking more and more challenging jobs , even fighting off trolls and ogres . All until the day that would completely change everything....
The ending of a life...
As the moonlight hit the floor of the forest, the silence was broken by a two pairs of footsteps dashing through the trees. "Come on city boy! You act like this is your first hunt !" the blonde elf girl said towards her human companion,"The trail is still warm, we're getting closer." she added. "By the nine Kalee ! I'd like to see you run carrying this giant sword on your back!" the man replied seemingly annoyed and barely catching his breath.
The two pushed deeper into the forest for a couple of minutes and then suddenly stopped. "Wait! Something's not right...the tracks just seem to come to a complete halt..." Kalee said rather worried. "Perhaps your tracking skills are getting a bit rusty." Lucian put his hand on her shoulder. She turned to him pushing his hand aside "Like you could...." before being able to finish her sentence he covered her mouth with his hand and whispered "Be quiet Kalee! I think i just heard something"
Suddenly the darkness around them was broken by a bright flash of light. "Look out!" Lucian pushed Kalee out of the way of what was a giant fireball. The two got up and drew their weapons while carefully analyzing their surroundings. "I got him in my sight!" Kalee said aiming her crossbow towards the tress and firing off an explosive bolt. The projectile hit it's target and knocked to the ground what seemed to be a wild fire drake. The creature didn't seem wounded by the hit , but barley dazed. "Your head is ours now beast!" Lucian screamed charging the creature with his jagged edged blade while Kalee reloaded her crossbow. The drake dodged his attack putting Lucian off balance, then knocked him back with it's tail. It then rushed towards him biting and clawing at him , with Lucian barley being able to dodge it's attacks by tumbling around on the ground. "Get off of him!" Kalee yelled throwing her crossbow to the side and jumping on the drake's back with a couple of magic daggers.
The creature shrieked and stumbled back a few feet then turned it's head and grabbed the young elf with it's mouth and threw her against a tree. "Kalee no!" Lucian screamed while trying to recover. The beast turned to him and charged at him furiously but this time he was ready and as it got to him he thrust his sword into the drakes neck. The creature got up on two legs and struck at him one last time hitting the left side of his face as it fell deeper into his blade.
His sight in his left eye was gone but he did not seem to care as he rushed towards the young elf girl lying on the ground. "Kalee! Wake up ! Wake up now! Don't you dare give up you stubborn little girl !" he yelled holding her in his arms with tears in his eyes. Though he did not get a response...the silence had taken back it's reign over the forest...
The Future
After the incident Lucian would give up fighting for a while, being lost in grief. Eventually he would leave Neverwinter for it was a constant remainder of Kalee , and decided to travel south to the sword coast , where he might once again start hunting beasts in her memory , making sure no one else would suffer the same fate.
